R. Eugene Degenhardt, 83

October 31, 2018

R. Eugene Degenhardt, 83, of Lancaster, passed away on Wednesday, October 31, 2018.
He was the husband of Sonya Eisel Degenhardt, son of the late Raymond E. and Elizabeth A. Davis Degenhardt.
He was a Professor Emeritus of Stevens Technical College, were he taught for 25 years. Prior to this, he worked at Armstrong World Industries.
Gene was a machinist and a blacksmith. He enjoyed hunting and beekeeping. He was, as family states “a jack of all trades.” There was nothing he could not fix or make. Above all, he was a great husband, father and pappy.
He was a US Army veteran.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his daughters: Deborah Buhay, Kathy Graybill, Sonya Degenhardt Polin, Helen Brubaker, and Rebecca Bisbing; his 14 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren; his brother David Degenhardt and sister, Frances Achatz. He was preceded in death by his sister, Joyce L. Dean, and brother, Raymond E. Jr.
Services will be private. In lieu of flowers, please make contributions in Gene’s memory to the Thaddeus Stevens School of Technology, 750 E King St., Lancaster, PA 17602.
