February 14, 2016

R. Bruce Weaver, 84, of Lititz, died suddenly Sunday, February 14, 2016 at Heart of Lancaster Regional Medical Center, Lititz.

He was a member of PSER and American Legion Post #56, Lititz. He enjoyed traveling, especially to Hawaii, and was happy that he lived to see his favorite baseball team, the Boston Red Sox, win 3 World Series titles since 1946.

Bruce was a proud Navy veteran of the Korean War.

In addition to his wife of 58 years, Bruce is survived by a daughter, Dana Lynn Limpert and her husband Roland of Federalsburg, MD; 2 sons: Bruce Boardman Weaver and his wife Renée of Maytown and Matthew Russell Weaver of Harrisburg; 4 grandchildren: Jesse Hoyt Arnold IV, Michael R.C. Limpert, Kelsey Elizabeth Limpert, and Anika Meijing Weaver; and one sister, Donna M. Galebach and her husband Thomas of Newmanstown.

Mr. Weaver was my favorite teacher at Penn Manor.  I had him as a history teacher, in 8th, and I believe, 11th grades. A group of girls would often hang around his classroom after school; where he spoke of little Dana, as well as other topics. Because of him, I decided to pursue social studies in college.  He was a great educator, (and could wield the paddle as well as anyone!) I want to extend my sympathy to your family; enjoy your good memories.

I taught with Bruce for 20+ years at Penn Manor and he was a wonderful co-worker, man and friend.  I have many fond memories of our teaching time.   His wonderful smile will always be remembered.   My sincere sympathies to the family.  May your memories bring you joy and fond rememberance of a truly good man.

Sorry for your loss. Bruce was a fellow teacher in the Social Studies Dept. at Penn Manor. He is a great individual and a great teacher.
Also had breakfast with him the last Wednesday of every month since his retirement.  He will be greatly missed by all.

Bruce Weaver was my social studies teacher at Penn Manor. He introduced us to the wonders and complexities of our society and others around the globe. His substantial units on world religions helped prepare me for a life of inclusion and openness. A wonderful man who left his very positive mark on thousands of fortunate Penn Manor grads.

Mr. Weaver was my social studies teacher in 1972 at Penn Manor, I always enjoyed his class and found him very fascinating even though it wasn’t my favorite subject.

Dear Barb and Family:
I just read about Bruce in morning paper and wanted to send along my prayers to you and your family. Darrell passed away July 2008 – it was only seven and a half weeks from diagnosis to demise – it sounds like your situation might have been very fast also – not easy.  I will be thinking about you.
