Dear Family of Sra. Palumbo,
I had Sra. Palumbo for Spanish in the late 1960’s at McCaskey…she was one of my favorite teachers. I knew I always needed to be prepared in her class. She had high expectations for all of us, she was direct and no nonsense with a commanding presence for someone of such short stature, and she was able to convey a love of Spanish history, culture, and people that went beyond just a typical language class. I thought of her again just last year when I traveled to Spain and was able to converse…I will never forget her. My condolences to the family,

Miss Palumbo was my Italian teacher in twelfth grade, in 1977. She was one of my all-time favorite teachers. As part of our class, we went to her home on Race Avenue and made a trip to Immaculata College for a foreign language in education seminar. She spoke up more than once! I still have my Italian-English dictionary from that time and think of her every time I see it. My condolences to her family.

Miss Palumbo was my fabulous Spanish teacher at McCaskey. Anytime I read or speak Spanish, I hear her voice.

Miss Palumbo was a legend at Reynolds. Many members of McCasmeys class of 1960 remember her
From our time at Reynolds.
She cared about her students, and worked hard to get the best from her students.
She was a fine example of a dedicated teacher in 1956 and 1957. She also served as teacher for
Plays. And was quite good at that. I remember a Father Know best play from 1959,
Proud to have known her.

Porsia was a wonderful neighbor to our family on Race Ave. She visited my mom at Moravian Manor. She loved the city and Buchanan park. We will miss her.

Mrs. Palumbo will forever be one of my favorite people. She lived on the same block as my grandmother Betty Byers and was one of her dear friends. She would always buy my grandmother biscotti’s for her coffee. I remember visiting her over Christmas and she would show me her tree that her niece would buy gold special ornaments for. I always appreciated her genuine concern for me and my family. A beautiful person, neighbor, and friend inside and out. I hope she is catching up with my grandmother as we speak. Sincere condolences to her family.

I am so very sorry for your loss. Miss Palumbo was my Spanish teacher at McCaskey for three years. Her dedication to learning was something that I drew on when I became a teacher also. Miss Palumbo really cared for her students. I can still remember the way she said my Spanish name, Juana, and also how she would sometimes get irritated with our class, but she would be smiling in her eyes. I’m happy she had such a long and interesting life. I’m grateful to have known her.

I am so sorry for this great loss to you, Anne, and the entire family. Porsia was such a dear soul and a dear friend. Porsia lived for her family and loved and served them with all her heart and soul. I would say that she dedicated her life to her family, her teaching career, and above all her God. I am holding you in my thoughts, my prayers, and my heart as you grieve her absence.

Sra. Palumbo was a wonderful influence in my life. She was extremely supportive of my quest to become a Spanish teacher. I often quote her in class and have taken some of her advice to heart some 40 years later.
Descansa en Paz, Sra.

Oh my—I am so happy she lived such a long and full life. I cannot begin to say how much this lovely woman influenced me in my life. Teacher, mentor and friend. I fell in love with Spanish and Italian because of her (and Miss Shanfelder!). She was dedicated to her profession but one of the most approachable teachers I had. She had a great sense of humor. My friend and I were lucky enough to spend our first “Life Week” at McCaskey learning Italian cooking from her and her mother and talking history with her father. Wonderful people –as was her brother. She will be greatly missed but Heaven has another great resident.

Dear Family of Porsia Palumbo,
Miss Palumbo was my seventh grade geography teacher at John Reynolds Junior High School. She was a most fair and considerate teacher, and her excellent teaching skills were evident even to me at that age and my parents. She certainly was a scholar and educator of note all of her life, and I am grateful to have had her as a mentor so very long ago.
My deepest sympathy to you all.
