Phyllis (Segro) Newton, 81

Phyllis (Segro) Newton, 81, passed away on her son’s birthday, November 13, 2016, at Mennonite Home.
Born in Lancaster, she was a 1953 graduate of Lancaster Catholic High School and was employed at Intell Printing and Lancaster Press until her retirement. Phyllis enjoyed reading, summers on Long Beach Island, arts and crafts, being with her many longtime friends and family, but most of all spending time with her precious grandchildren.
Phyllis is survived by her son, Walter Newton; brother Jack Segro (Nancy); grandchildren Brandon and triplets Jenna, John-Paul, and Julian Newton; nephews Joseph, Anthony, and Alfred Segro and Patrick Bannister; great-nieces and nephews Jeana, Vincent, Mara Rose, Gabriele, Anthony, and Blaise; uncle, Nunzio Barrila; and many cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Frances Segro, and her spouse, Walter Newton.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 AM on Monday, November 21, 2016 at historic St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 119 S. Prince St., Lancaster with the Rev. Leo Goodman as Celebrant. Friends and family will be received at the church one hour prior to Mass. Burial will be private.
The family would like to thank the staff of Mennonite Home for their care of Phyllis.
