Peter Jude Sahd, 58
October 03, 2017
Peter J. Sahd, Devoted Husband, Loving Father, Proud Grandfather, Loyal Friend.
With deep sadness, the family of Peter Jude Sahd, 58, of Lititz announces his passing that took place on Tuesday, October 3rd, 2017 at Hospice & Community Care, Mt. Joy.
Born in Columbia, PA, Peter was the son of the late Joseph G. Sahd and Barbara P. Sahd.
Peter’s spirit will live on through his entire family; his cherished wife of 36 years: Soraya (Engel) Sahd; sons: Joseph C. and wife Erica White Sahd; Paul F. and fiancé Kelly Hoyle; and Alexander P. and wife Mai-Lynn Abel Sahd; seven grandchildren: Rhea, Sammy, Lucas, Olivia, Evelyn, Peter, and Jude Easton; siblings: Wm. (Jerry) and Mary Lou Sahd, Kenneth and Deborah Sahd, David and Cynthia Sahd, Edward and Pauline Maksel, Darlene Terranova, Gregory and Janice Sahd, Benedict and Beth Ann Sahd, Patricia Litwin, and Brian Sahd and Tony Wong; as well as all his beloved cousins, nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.
A devout Catholic, Peter was a member of St. James Catholic Church in Lititz and, together with his three sons, was a 4th degree Knight of Columbus.
A proud graduate of both Lancaster Catholic High School (’77) and LaSalle University (‘81), Peter held successful careers in both the banking and nonprofit sectors.
Peter embraced his Lebanese heritage. He was an excellent cook, and thoroughly enjoyed his time in the kitchen alongside family and friends while listening to Frank Sinatra. An avid sports fan, Peter enjoyed watching sports of all kinds, namely The Fighting Irish of Notre Dame and The Chicago Bears. Fond memories were created while Peter coached all three of his children in baseball, football and wrestling. In the later years of Peter’s life, the beach at Spring Lake, NJ was a frequent retreat for him and wife Soraya.
Of all Peter’s passions and interests, FAITH and FAMILY were the two most important aspects of his life. He and Soraya were very active members within the Catholic Church and Catholic Education. He always held close to his heart all the opportunities spent with family and friends. As the family grew, Peter and Soraya loved creating joyful memories with their precious grandchildren. The Lord blessed Peter with a very special ability to establish friendships with everyone he met. Peter’s optimism and good nature were infectious; he enjoyed making frequent trips to Bomberger’s Hardware Store, as these fun-filled adventures developed into stories that were recounted for years to come.
Peter was a model husband, father, grandfather, brother, son, and friend. While Peter will be missed dearly, his family is honored to carry on his great legacy and continue to enjoy life as he did. Peter will be remembered as a faith-filled, selfless, friendly, optimistic, and generous man.
Peter’s family will host a viewing at Charles F. Snyder, Jr. Funeral Home 3110 Lititz Pike on Tuesday, Oct. 10th from 6-9PM. Recitation of the Holy Rosary will be held after the viewing at 9PM. A second viewing will be from 9:30AM-11AM at the church prior to Mass. A Mass of Christian Burial Celebrating Peter’s life will take place on Wednesday, Oct. 11th at St. James Catholic Church 505 Woodcrest Ave. Lititz, PA 17543 at 11AM with The Rev. James O’Blaney C.Ss.R. as Celebrant, The Rev. Mgsr. John Esseff, Con-Celebrant (cousin), and nephews The Rev. Chris Sahd, The Rev. Kyle Sahd, and Deacon Tim Sahd. An interment will follow at Witness Park Cemetery (Lititz). In lieu of flowers, Peter asked to donate to the St. Jude Children’s Hospital 262 Danny Thomas Place Memphis, TN 38105 which always held a special place in his heart.

Soraya & Family,
I am so sorry for your loss as Pete was truly an incredible person. I had the privilege of working with him in Susquehanna and found his love of his family (not to mention great cooking) truly inspiring. I can say that the glow he had when talking about his children was only surpassed by the even brighter glow he had talking about his grandchildren. His tales of the hardware store trips and family endeared him to many. I cannot comprehend what his loss is to you all and my prayers are with you but I thank you for sharing him with us as he taught many much.
You all are in my thoughts & prayers,
Lorri Benyaker

Dear Soraya, Joe, Paul, Alex and families,
We are so very sorry to hear of Pete’s passing. He was a truly fine man and such a good neighbor. Even during his illness, he always had a smile and a cheerful hello to share whenever we would see him in the neighborhood. He was so very kind to Adam, always speaking directly to him and asking how he was doing. That kindness meant a great deal to us. We wish peace to your family, and hope you can find comfort in the days ahead from all your beautiful memories.
Sincerely, Dennis, Becki, and Adam Ocker

Blessings to all of the Sahd family at this of sorrow. Although I haven’t seen Pete in years I remember the fun we had coaching the midget football team so many years ago. He was a good man and in addition to being a coach he instilled some good life lessons as well. May God bless all of you and grant you his peace and love. George & Dixie Heacock

Pete is a cousin to my cousin. I had the honor of officially meeting Pete while working at Susquehanna Bancshares and our paths crossed frequently while my daughters went to school with his sons. We had many breif interactions through St James and Susquehanna and he always made me feel valued as a person – always took time to say hello and his presence was bright. He is one of those souls that leave this earth way too soon, but leave imprints on everyones hearts. Peace and Prayers ~ Margaret Keysock Barolo

Pete will be lovingly remembered by Mark & I. The last time I saw him was picking up sandwiches at Primo Hoagie. While it was evident he was in pain, he was so dear and upbeat. He could bring a smile to anyone’s face with his peaceful and genuine persona. Mark was fortunate enough to have a meal with him & friends at Capricio’s a bit ago. We will always love Pete and miss him terribly. Love to you all❤️
