Paul F. Ressel, Sr., age 92, passed away on September 29, 2024, at the Lancaster Nursing and Rehab Center, where he was a resident for 3 years. Born in Lancaster, he was the son of the late John S. and Minnie Schmook Ressel.
Paul was a 1949 graduate of J.P. McCaskey High School. He served in the U.S. Army from 1953-1955. He worked and retired from the A&P and Super Fresh stores as a meat cutter with 35 years of service.
He played softball in the Lancaster Rec League for many years with the South End softball team, in the 60 and over league, and for the Brooklyn Dodgers minor league team. He also bowled in many different leagues. He also was a member of the Improved Order of the Red Men Organization.
Paul is survived by four children: Steven (Karen), Vicki Weiler, Debra (fiancée of Bill Phillips), and Paul Jr. (Kathy); seven grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.
Paul was the last of his immediate family, and was preceded in death by six brothers and four sisters: John, Earl, Robert, William, Richard, Harold, Anna Mary Hohenwarter, Olive Sensenderfer, Irene Sensenderfer, and Ruth McKeown. He was also preceded in death by his son-in-law, Moses Weiler.
Services will be private.

My sympathy to Uncle Paul’s family and to all to knew and loved him. I remember his thoughtfulness for visiting his older brother Earl(my dad) when Dad was in the hospital and then again when he came to Dad’s funeral bring some family members with him.
