Patricia Anne (Miller) Swartwood, 71

Patricia Anne (Miller) Swartwood, 71, of Lancaster, passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, January 15, 2025.
Born and raised in Lancaster, she was the daughter of the late Amos R. and Jeannette (Dietrich) Miller.
A graduate of Lampeter-Strasburg High School, Patricia earned a Bachelor’s Degree from Ursinus College and a Master’s Degree in Public Administration from Penn State.
Professionally, Patricia worked for over 3 years as a Police Communications Operator (PCO) at the Pennsylvania State Police Troop J HQ Lancaster Station. She later worked as an administrator for West Lampeter Township and then as an assistant deputy director for the Lancaster County Purchasing Department. Never one to let retirement slow her down, Patricia most recently worked part-time as a substitute teacher in Lampeter-Strasburg School District, where she loved teaching students at Hans Herr Middle School. In addition, she was the president of the Auxiliary of the Retired Pennsylvania State Police Association.
When not working, Patricia enjoyed gardening and traveling.
Surviving is her loving husband of 48 years, Robert T. of Lancaster, and their son, Robert M., husband of Holly Swartwood, of Harrisburg.
The family will receive friends for a viewing on Wednesday, January 22, 2025, at Charles F. Snyder Funeral Home, 2421 Willow Street Pike, Willow Street, PA 17584, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM.
A memorial service will be held on Thursday, January 23, 2025, beginning at 10:00 AM, with a viewing time one hour before service at the funeral home.
Burial will be at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery.

Bob, We are so sorry for your loss and the loss for all of us who have shared many memories of Pat. She was always there for Donna and I especially after Donna’s unfortunate accident in 2021. She will me missed by many and we will always remember her kind heart and warm words.

I knew if Pat was my substitute, I could relax. She was well-prepared and professional. When subsitutiting for another I could enjoy her quick wit and intellect. Pat was one of the great ones, so reliable and so grounded; a great loss.
