Olympia Sipe, 89

October 18, 1934 - April 24, 2024

Olympia Sipe, 89, of Lititz passed away peacefully on Wednesday April 24, 2024, at Masonic Village in Elizabethtown. Born in Reading, PA on October 18, 1934, she was the daughter of the late Gregory and Dorothea Yoannides Ganikon.

Olympia was a graduate of Mount Penn High School in Reading, the Reading Business Institute and Bryland Beauty School. She was also the owner and operator of Olympia Sipe’s Beauty Salon for over 40 years, and worked as a hairstylist for Heisey Funeral Home in Lititz.

She was an active member of the Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church in Lancaster. Olympia sang in the choir for over 20 years and was a member of the Philoptochos Society at Annunciation. She also attended the Transfiguration Greek Church in Lititz, in her later years. Olympia was very involved in the Lititz Lioness Club, the Lititz Art Association, and the Lititz Senior Center. She especially enjoyed knitting, reading, sewing, and painting.

Olympia is survived by her children, Eugene P. Sipe, Jr., husband of Andrea, of Panama, Dorothea “Dolly” Sipe Fasig, of Plantersville, Texas, Kathy “Kate” Wengiel, wife of David, of Denver, PA, and Karen Sipe, wife of Roy Greenhalgh; grandchildren, Michael Fasig, Jr., Christopher A. Carl, and E. Daniel Wengiel, husband of Rachel; a great granddaughter, Isabelle Fasig, as well as her longtime caregiver and best friend, Carole Harvan-Griffith. Olympia was preceded in death by her husband Eugene Sipe Sr., and a brother, John Ganikon husband of Theodora.

Funeral services for Olympia Sipe will be held at the Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church, 64 Hershey Ave. Lancaster, PA 17603 on Tuesday, April 30, 2024. A public viewing will take place at 9:30 am, followed by the Funeral Service at 10:30 am. Burial will be private at Conestoga Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Olympia’s memory to the Annunciation church at the address above.
