Neal E. Steffy, 65

April 15, 2017

Neal E. Steffy, 65, of Manheim, went home to be with his Savior, surrounded by his loving family, on Saturday, April 15, 2017, after a long, courageous battle against cancer. Born in Hopeland, Neal was the son of the late Edwin F. and June E. (Yeager) Steffy. He was the loving husband of Betsy (Mellors) Steffy, with whom he celebrated over 38 years of marriage.
Neal was a 1969 Ephrata High School graduate. He worked as a propeller mechanic for Sensenich Propeller Manufacturing Co., Inc., in Lititz for 22 years. Most recently, he worked at the Manheim Auto Auction. Neal also served as Judge of Elections for the Penn Twp. Junction District for over ten years.
Neal was a longtime member of the Manheim Grace Brethren Church. He was an avid Eagles, Phillies, and Penn State fan. He enjoyed playing softball in adult leagues for many years, was skilled at wood working and loved to hunt and golf. He enjoyed traveling throughout the United States and loved his Labradoodle, Kali.
Neal’s greatest joy was his family. In addition to his wife, Betsy, Neal is survived by his daughter, Adrienne L. Dow, wife of Nicholas, of Leola, and his son, Jared W. Steffy, of Rockville, MD and one granddaughter, Madison Dow, who always brought a smile to his face. He is survived by five siblings: Almanara “Tootsie” Buffenmeyer, wife of Glenn, of Ephrata; Candice Byers, wife of William, of Lititz; Sandra Glick, wife of Robert, of Lititz; Dorothy Weidler, wife of Charles, of Stevens, and Nancy Richins, of Maryland. Neal was preceded in death by ten siblings: Jean Shober, Nelson Steffy, Charles Steffy, Shirley Diem, Mabel Steffy, Ricky Steffy, Linda Steffy, Edwin Steffy, Jr. Allen Steffy, and James McMinn.
A Memorial Service will be held at 11AM, Saturday, April 29, 2017, at Manheim Grace Brethren Church, 333 E. High St., Manheim, PA 17545, with Pastor Jeffrey L. Dunkle officiating. Family and friends will be received at the church from 9AM until the start of the service. In honor of Neal’s memory and at his request, casual attire would be appreciated and please wear your favorite sports team jersey!
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Neal’s name may be made to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, Donor Services, PO Box 4072, Pittsfield, MA 01202.
