Naomi Ruth “Ginger” Gingerich, 75

July 27, 2021

Naomi Ruth “Ginger” Gingerich, 75, went home to the arms of her beloved Jesus from her home in Lititz on July 27, 2021. She was born September 18, 1945, in Linwood, Michigan and grew up in Versailles, MO.

She attended Heston College in Kansas and then completed a general diploma in nursing at Kansas City General Hospital. She was a highly respected and compassionate RN in many settings, including Kansas City, Lancaster General Hospital, Baltimore, Sarasota, Heart of Lancaster Regional Hospital, Hospice of Lancaster County, and most recently Linden Hall School in Lititz. She ministered in each setting with a memorable blend of efficiency, competency and warmth, making friends everywhere she went. She was known for her huge heart and listening ear as well as her zany wit and lively sense of humor. She loved to travel nationally and internationally, and had been in all but one of the US States. She was a member of Newport (Dove) Church and spread the love of her Lord wherever she went.

She was predeceased by her parents, LeRoy and Mary Alice Gingerich and her brother Jim Gingerich, and is survived by her nephew Rob Crain, niece Deborah Washburn, grandniece Samantha Woodall, grandnephew Ryan Gingerich and many other beloved family members.

There will be a visitation at Dove Westgate Church, 1755 West Main St. Ephrata, PA on August 13 from 6-9 PM and August 14 from 8-11 AM, followed by a memorial service starting at 12 noon.

Naomi was a great friend. I knew her from our times at curves. She was always a bright spot in the day. Always joking around and always had good things to say and smiling
she will be missed

Niomi was a much loved and admired cousin to me, stopping in Iowa to visit and cheering up our family reunions with her antics, wit and smiles.   She always made a point to visit my sister Linda and husband Art when in Colorado.  She came to my parents Paul and Vesta’s 70th wedding aniversary in Iowa all the way from Penn.  Of her 40 some 1st cousins on the Gingerich side I think only Larry, Leabelle, James and Linda have crossed the Jordan ahead of her.   We all will miss her greatly.   Cousin Ken

Naomi was a roommate with me in Kansas City following graduating from the KCGH School of Nursing in 1968. We were involved in the Nurses Christian Fellowship during the years we were in nursing school. She was always a joy and delighted in having fun. We travelled together to LaJunta, Colorado, to visit another nursing classmate, Mary Aquilar. She had a Mercury Cougar at that time in the laste 60’s and delighted in traveling around KC in that car. My prayers are with her family and for her soul’s progress in the next world.

My condolences to Naomi’s family in your  loss. The earlier comment about Naomi being an angel was something we had discussed as well! Her hugs were healing and her laughter contagious- I will miss seeing her this summer as planned. Marcia Hornberger

Naomi was always full of cheer and laughs and yet had such a compassionate heart. This world has lost a dear person. I amen what Ryan, her nephew said in his tribute. She will b missed. I can just her parents, Leroy and Mary Alice meeting her as she came thru heaven’s gate. What a reunion. Naomi was one of the older girls at Mt Zion church when I was a preteen, but I became more acquainted with her as I grew older. What a sweet soul she was…to everyone.-Janice (Wenger) Miller

So sorry to learn of her passing! She certainly lived her life fully and joyfully! I wish I had checked in with her more often in the past few months! She never seemed to have down days!

Naomi is central in my earliest childhood memory. She and I played together at a Versailles ministers meeting when I was about six and she would have been three?  Even then she was passionate, full of fun, loving and creative. Her love, joy, determination, dedication and empathetic spirit will remain with me always. She handled conflict with aplomb and always prioritized people over positions.  The best way to honor her is to follow her example. Special condolences to Samantha and Ryan, her many cousins and uncle Simon.

I had the blessing of meeting this sweet lady for only a short time. Naomi’s infectious smile was beautiful.  She also exuded the peace of Jesus.
Rest in the arms of your sweet Jesus, Naomi

I knew Naomi as a child from our Bible School days at Mount Zion Mennonite Church near Versailles.  We were together as sophomores in Versailles, Mo. High School in Mrs. Houston’s world history class.  One day we received our grades from a test.  Mrs. Houston had both us to stand because we made the highest grade in the class. May our Lord and memories comfort Naomi’s family and many friends. –Tom Kerr

Ginger will always be remembered as such a compassionate and happy individual. I first met Ginger in the 1980s while running as an EMT. Eventually, I worked with her at LGH and she was such a friend to so many. Our last gathering was traveling to Washington, DC for “The Call” with Lou Engle. I truly believe Ginger was an angel in disguise…Hebrews 13:2 Do not forget to show hospitality to strangers, for by so doing some people have shown hospitality to angels without knowing it. (NIV). Thank you, Ginger, for giving us all of your very best and being a true representative of Jesus Christ. Loving, Annie Arbuckle (Blackburn)

I worked with Ginger at LGH. She was a night shift OR nurse and ALWAYS was wrapped in a warm blanket smiling and laughing. I truly missed her when she moved on. Blessing Ginger. Hilde

I met “Ginger”,as I knew her, back in 1980 at Lancaster General Hospital when she was an Emergency Room nurse and  I was an x-ray technologist. We had so much fun together in between the seriousness of the job. She always had a smile on her face and many times a mischievous gleam in her eye. We have stayed I touch over the years and I am so thankful I was able to have dinner with her just a few weeks ago. We chatted and laughed about some of our antics back in the day. I will truly miss her. She was just such a genuinely caring and wonderful person.                                           My condolences to all of her family and loved ones.

Ginger was an honorary member of our VS unit in Kansas City. She treated us to pizza, outings, practical jokes, and always, a witty and mischievous sense of humor. We’ve loved her ever since across the miles…a friendship of decades. We will miss her immensely. 💕

For years we younger cousins looked so much forward to Gingerich family reunions because we would get to hang out with Naomi. Those reunions will never be the same without her infectious smile and laugh, fun-loving spirit, and warm support. Much love to the nieces and nephews whom she loved so much.
