Nancy Yunginger Rhoads
October 01, 2024
Nancy Rhoads passed away peacefully on October 1st, 2024 in the presence of her son, Joseph D. Miller. Born in Lancaster, on March 22, 2024, she was the eldest daughter of the late B. Frank and Mary (Dussinger) Yunginger. She celebrated her 100th birthday with friends and family.
Nancy is survived by her son, Joseph, daughter-in-law, Stephanie King Miller, and three grandchildren: Natalie J. Miller (Brian Glassman), Brendan P. Miller (Maria), and Lauren E. Dannenberg (Eric); seven great grandchildren: Coraline and Quentin Glassman; Mackenna, Kieran, and Teagan Miller; Lucy and Mila Dannenberg. She is also survived by sisters; Anabel Gockley and Yvonne (Jake) Baker. She was married to Horace (Sneeze) Miller from 1946 until 1957 and Paul Rhoads from 1960 until 1984.
Nancy was preceded in death by sisters: Susan Mowrer, Mildred (Mudd) McKinney, and Janice Yunginger, and brothers: Norman, Frank, Roland (Hank), Charles (Pork), and Joseph Yunginger as well as her step-son, Joseph Rhoads.
Nancy had a varied work history, from being a nanny at an early age to working at Hamilton Watch Company during WW2 and beyond. She also worked as a cashier for the Lancaster School District in the late 1950s and 1960s. In the 70s, she worked at Servomation at Sperry New Holland which turned into a printing press vocation there during the 1980s.
She was an active member of the Zion United Church of Christ in New Providence for many years.
Nancy was a strong, proud woman who lived her life without regret, always looking forward. Despite a sometimes gruff exterior, she was fiercely loyal to her friends and family. She spent most of her life caring for the people she loved, starting at a young age by helping to raise her younger siblings and later on in life, assisting to raise a couple of her nieces. She always made time to spent with her many nieces and nephews, especially during summer time at the beach. Through the years she visited friends and family in nursing homes and hospitals. She never showed up empty handed, bringing her tandy cakes, soybeans, or lasagna every time she visited.
Friends and family are invited to attend her burial on Friday, October 11th at 11AM at Conestoga Memorial Park, 95 2nd Lock Rd., Lancaster, PA 17603, where she will be laid to rest beside her second husband. A larger memorial service will be held on Saturday, October 26th at Charles F. Snyder Funeral Home, 2421 Willow Street Pike, Willow Street, PA 17584. Visitation will be from 10AM to 11AM followed by a Celebration of Life Memorial beginning at 11AM.

Nancy’s second husband was my father best friend growing up. My name is Rob Elsen. I first met Nancy at Gorge Washington elementary where she collected my lunch money and later at J P McCaskey. She was always smiling and nice to me. I have no doubt she is with the Lord.
