Nancy Elizabeth Saunders, 78

July 06, 2025

Nancy Elizabeth Saunders (nee deBeaumont), 78, of Lancaster, PA, passed away on Sunday, July 6, 2025. Born in Auburn, NY to the late Paul J. deBeaumont and Mary L. (Baraczek) deBeaumont. Nancy married her childhood sweetheart, Ron Saunders, in 1968 and they were married for 49 years until his death in 2017. They lovingly called each other as a couple of “West End Kids,” referring to their neighborhood where they met.

A 1965 honors graduate of Mount Carmel High School, she attended Auburn Community College and Eisenhower College. In 1985 she graduated from Syracuse University with a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry. While pursuing her degree, Nancy was employed by the Cayuga County Lab at Auburn Memorial Hospital. After graduation in 1985, she and her family moved to Lancaster, PA. She was employed for over 30 years at Lancaster Laboratories and retired in 2018 as a senior data review specialist in pharmaceuticals. Nancy was an avid reader and kept a beautiful garden. She also enjoyed needlepoint, crocheting, and sewing. Her favorite trips with her husband were to Ireland and New Orleans. Locally, they enjoyed visiting wineries. The holidays were a special time for Nancy and her family. She would bake Christmas cookies for the house, plus more than enough for friends and neighbors. It was also over the holidays when Nancy would cook big, delicious meals that would feed you for days. She was proud of her Ukrainian heritage and used many of the recipes passed down through the family for the holiday meal so her children would appreciate the language and the culture.

Surviving is a daughter, Wendy Nolt (Randall K.), of Gordonville, and a grandson, Zackory. She will be missed by her cousins, nieces, and nephews of the deBeaumont, Baraczek, and Chayka families. Sharing in our grief are brothers-in-law Gary R. Saunders (Ginger), of S. Daytona Beach, Florida, and Brian D. Saunders (Edi Brooker), of Cocoa Beach, Florida. Additionally, a niece Heather Malagese, of South Carolina and nephews Scott Saunders, of New York, Glenn Saunders, of California, and Eric and Corey Saunders, of Florida.

In addition to her parents and husband, Nancy was preceded in death by her son, Timothy A. Saunders who died in 2016.

A viewing will take place on Sunday, July 13, 2025, from 3:00 to 4:00 pm, followed by the funeral liturgy at 4:00 pm with The Rev. Matthew C. Morelli officiating, at the Charles F. Snyder Funeral Home & Crematory, 414 East King Street, Lancaster, PA 17602.

Nancy will be buried beside Ron and Tim in St. Joseph Cemetery, 6020 Lake Avenue East, Auburn, NY 13021, on Monday, July 14, 2025, at 1:00 pm with Deacon John Tomandl officiating.

Please omit flowers. Because of Nancy’s love of animals, please consider a contribution in her name to Humane Pennsylvania, 2195 Lincoln Highway East, Lancaster, PA 17602.

Wendy, so sorry to read about your mother’s passing – such a sweet lady.  I grew up on VanAnden St. next to St. Aloysius and she lived one street over on Seymour St.  May happy memories carry you through this difficult time. Barbara Restey Mulvey
