Nancy Carol Selby, 92

June 09, 2024

Nancy Carol Selby, 92, formerly of California, passed away on June 9, 2024 at Keystone Villa in Ephrata, PA. She was the wife of the late Ralph Selby, who passed away in 1995. Born in San Jose, CA, she was the daughter of the late Howard and Amy Smith Hamlin. Nancy had worked for many years in secretarial positions for various healthcare companies.

An avid and talented quilter, Nancy had quilted for over 30 years, creating over 2000 quilts. Some of her works were donated to local hospitals for newborn babies. She enjoyed traveling to quilt shows and was a member of the Ridge Quilters Guild of Paradise, CA. The Guild states that she was by far the most prolific member in making Community Service quilts. It was not uncommon for her to show up to a Guild meeting with 20 – 30 quilts done. When asked how she got so many done, and she replied that she started each morning after breakfast and sewed until lunch, and again after lunch until late afternoon.

The Guild is honored to accept contributions in her name that would go towards their ongoing efforts in providing quilts for those in the community. They currently support the Breast Cancer Center which serves Ridge residents. They provide a quilt a week for the facility as well as we support each Habitat for Humanity house that is built with a quilt for each bed. They also continue to support the local care and residential homes in the community.

Contributions in her name can be made to the Ridge Quilters Guild. Their website is www.ridgequiltersguild.org and their mailing address is P.O. Box 1668, Paradise, CA 95967.

Nancy is survived by her children: Scott C., married to Janet Selby of Ephrata and Lisa L. Selby of Santa Rosa, CA., and by her grandson, Daniel Selby. She was preceded in death by her brother, Foster Hamlin.
