Nancy B. Brown, 93
July 16, 1932 - August 20, 2025
Nancy B. Brown passed away peacefully on August 20, 2025, at the age of 93. Nancy, a homemaker and teacher, was a cherished wife and mother.
Born on July 16, 1932, in Camden, NJ, Nancy was the beloved child of parents who predeceased her, Angeline Patrelle Blanck and Horace W. Blanck and a devoted sibling to her sisters Barbara (late Al) Anconetani of Magnolia, NJ, and Mary Lou (Robert) Brashear of Berlin, NJ.
Nancy was a graduate of Haddon Heights High School, Haddon Heights, NJ, and of Juniata College.
For 53 years, she enjoyed spending several weeks a year in Ontario, Canada fishing with her family. Upon her husband’s retirement, they became avid birders and traveled the country with Elderhostels. She had a beautiful soloist voice and sang in church choirs all her life, most recently, in Salem Hellers Church Cantata Choir in Lancaster. She enjoyed watching many sporting events, including her son’s hockey games, tennis matches, her husband’s softball games, the Phillies and Kansas City Chiefs games. Her favorite place to go was the Willow Street Diner where her friend, server Ann Shelley, and kitchen staff member, Reuben, welcomed her with open arms weekly. Nancy participated in the church community and taught Bible Studies for 20 years for the Millersville Council on Aging and for many years at Zion Church in Millersville.
Nancy is survived by her husband, James E. Brown, to whom she was married for 57 years. Her first husband, Glenn H. Buckwalter, died in 1965. Surviving are sons Steven J. Brown (late Astrid) of Many, LA: Bradley T. Buckwalter of Lancaster, PA; Kevin P. Brown of Millersville, PA; Brian C. Brown of Severna Park, MD; daughters Nancy E. (Scott) Dearolf of Lancaster, PA; Jill B. (Michael) Muscarelli of Helena, MT; Amy B. (late Dave) Hess of Lancaster, PA, 11 grandchildren, many loving great grandchildren, nieces and nephews, and extended family members and friends who will miss her dearly.
We wish to thank Hospice and Community Care of Lancaster for their compassionate care and support.
A private memorial service will be held at the convenience of the family.
