Michael W. Glasmire, 62
Michael William Glasmire, 62, passed away peacefully at his home in Elkton, OR on September 15, 2008 after a long and courageous battle with cancer. He was the son of William E. Glasmire Jr. and Grace Snavely Glasmire of Lancaster. Michael graduated in 1963 from Manheim Township High School, where he was active in the choir and had leading roles in the Junior and Senior Class Musicals. He was a volunteer fireman with Southern Manheim Township. Michael was employed in hospitals in PA and CA as a respiratory therapist having received his training at the former St Joseph Hospital in Lancaster.
Surviving besides his parents, is his devoted, long time companion, Barbara E. Flynn, a son, Pastor Todd A. Glasmire married to Gail, a daughter, Tami Lynn Glasmire fiancée of Scott Herr, a granddaughter, Abigail Margaret Herr, friend and ex-wife, Arlene Z. Glasmire and beloved pet, Biscuit.
A Memorial Service will be held at the Lancaster Church of the Brethren, 1501 Sunset Ave., Lancaster on Saturday, October 4, 2008 at 2:00PM, with the Rev. Jeffrey B. Rill and Rev. Curtis Dubble officiating. Private interment will be held in Lancaster Church of the Brethren Memorial Garden. The family will greet friends from 1:30-2:00PM and after the Memorial Service. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Michael’s memory will be appreciated to the Heifer Project International, P.O. Box 1692, Merrifield, VA 22116-1692. We are sorry Michael left are world and passed on to GOD. We knew him for a little while, while he lived in Slatington. Although he went to a better place, his memory stays with us . We will remember the good things he did in life and his memory will live on with his children and grandchild. May GOD give you strength and courage during these sad days . May GOD bless and keep you. Dear Bill and Grace,
We are so sorry to hear of the recent death of your son. Our thoughts and prayers are with you and the entire family. We will also pray for Michael’s
soul to rest in peace.
We know that the services will be at LCOB on October 4th. Mom will be away that weekend and Nitin will be at work. Consequently, even though we will not be physically present at the services, we will have you in our thoughts and prayers especially at that time.
