I worked with Mike at FT Knox training cadets over a summer a few years back.   We connected immediately over the rediculousness of Cadet Command. We kept in touch over the years with our inside jokes.
We world is a worse place without him in it.  Rest in peace old Soldier.  Hopefully, I will see you passing by Fiddler’s Green.

Michael’s compassion and kindness will always be what I remember of him.  He strived to help others when he could.  But even more than that was his love for me.  Michael had a way like no one else to show me just how much I was loved and how deserving I was of his love.  He could make me feel safe with the biggest of hugs.  And he could make me laugh with the simplest of jokes, no matter how corny they were.  Michael just had a way of putting a smile on my face and filling my heart with love.  Our adventures together were filled with excitement and fun.  We always had a great time together, whether traveling or just sitting on the couch watching Fixer Upper or Home Town.  We loved the DIY shows.  We were extremely fortunate to have found our better half in each other.  And while we only shared eleven years together, it was more than many others get to share.  Michael, you will always be my everything, my precious sea otter always holding my hand, my cuddly buggly honey kissing me goodnight.  You will always be My Michael and I will always be Your Krista.  I love you so much and miss you more than you know.

The biggest and best thing that I know about Michael is his love and adoration for his Krista! Him and I graduated high school together, as well as served in the Army, although I never had the honor of serving with him. We didn’t always see things eye to eye, but I certainly respected the courage of his convictions. He also had a particular kind of humor and I certainly did appreciate it. My condolences to Michael’s Krista and his family. May you rest in peace, Colonel, until that fateful day.
Sincerely, Ray Smalling

Dear John, Roberta and Family.  My deepest condolences to you during this journey of loss.  No words can be expressed that will console you all at this time except to know you are all loved and Michael will be watching over you.  I am truly saddened and hope the wonderful memories you shared will someday bring you peace.  Many prayers and virtual hugs.

Ill never forget the time you broke down the bathroom door to get to me at Wess’s. I pray you are at rest with a cold one in your hand. My thoughts are with your family & Ronni too. We are living borrowed time, don’t ever live with words unsaid. Love, forgive and allow to be forgiven.

There are no words I can say that will express what a loss to this world the passing of my cousin Michael is.  He loved his family, his dear Krista, his dedication to his military career and his sports with every fiber of his being. May you rest in peace and no doubt will be guarding the gates of heaven with full honor!!
