I lost touch with Mike after high school, but have fond memories of all the fun times we had. He would make me laugh at his goofy antics. Mike always was smiling and was such a cutie. Condolences to the family. You are in my thoughts and prayers. Cindy Duke Rathvon

i havent seen Mike since grade school at Nitrauer. i will NEVER forget Mrs Wiggins asking everyone in the class to do something – anything – in front of the class. I remember what I did, only because I remember the event. But the only reason I remember the event is because of what Mike Yarnell did. As a 3rd grader, Mike got up in front of the class and sang ‘Sound of Silence’ by Simon & Garfunkel. He sang the whole song and quietly went back to his seat. I have never forgotten to this day, 55 years later. And I never forgot Mike. I’ve told this story many times over those years and described it as mesmerizing, distinct, and somewhat unbelievable – that a third grader would have the guts to do THAT. But he did.
Rest in peace Mike. And enjoy heavenly silence.

I had the pleasure of skateboarding with Mike on the Thunderdohm Skateboard team in the 1970s. He was a fierce competitor, always funny and very creative. At least on one occasion he drove over 100 mph to get from Lancaster to York in time for a tournament. So glad I had the opportunity to know him back then very sorry to hear he’s passed early in his life. God bless Mike
