Michael Anthony Powers “Mike”, 70

Michael Anthony Powers, “Mike”, 70, of Lancaster, PA, passed away on Monday, June 26, 2023, at Lancaster General Hospital.
Born in Wichita, KS, he was the son of the late John L. Powers III, and Evelyn I. (Lunn) Powers. Michael was the oldest of eight children and grew up in Blackwood NJ. He attended schools in Gloucester Township NJ, and Camden County Vocational Technical High School, NJ. Mike attended St. Jude Church in Blackwood NJ, where he was an alter-boy.
Mike had a career as a welder and pipefitter. He was a member of Plumbers and Pipefitters Local 520. He worked in manufacturing and at nuclear power plants before retirement.
Mike was a caring and generous person that would give the shirt off his back to anyone. He was well read, and had many interests. He enjoyed listening to music, playing guitar, target shooting, restoring cars, and collecting. He was fond of animals, and along with his friend Ann, rescued many dogs, receiving great affection from Gus, Rosie, Daisy, and Silly.
Mike is survived by his daughter, Faith Anne (Derrick) Tabor; stepdaughter, Lynn Thomas; ex-wife Barbara Cochran; seven siblings, Robert (Arlene) Powers, Janice (Robert) Pizzuto, Karen (Keith) Haberern, David (Cindy) Powers, Julia (the late Wallace) Powers, Gregory Powers, and W. Scott (Kathleen) Powers; many nieces and nephews; and his dear friend, Ann Patterson. He was pre-deceased by his wife, Denise Colna Powers and step-son Stephen Thomas.
A celebration of Mike’s life will be held privately at a later date.
