Melvin J. Kauffman, 53
Melvin J. Kauffman, 53, of 1634 Chadwick Circle, Lancaster, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, April 6, 2007.
He was the husband of Susan Y. Diehl Kauffman, with whom he would have celebrated 14 years of marriage on May 22nd. Born in Lancaster, he was the son of Charles, married to Rose Kauffman of Mountville, and Geraldine, married to Frank Leed of New Providence.
Mel had worked as a packer and mover with Shelly Moving and Storage in Hellam for the past 12 years.
He was a graduate of Penn Manor High School, where he had been a member of the FFA. He was an avid gardener, loved the outdoors especially hunting and fishing, and was a die-hard Philadelphia Eagles, Phillies and Penn State fan. He also loved music and animals, especially cats and birds.
In addition to his wife and parents, Mel is survived by his maternal grandmother Ella Campbell of Lancaster, a brother Jeffrey A. married to Cindy Kauffman of Millersville, and 2 sisters: Connie married to Larry Weaver of Millersville, and Charlene Burkholder of Lititz. He is also survived by 3 nephews, 7 nieces, 4 great nephews, 5 great nieces, and his beloved cat, Allie Grace.
Friends will be received on Friday from 6-7PM at the Charles F. Snyder Funeral Home and Chapel, 3110 Lititz Pike, Lititz, PA, with a memorial service to follow at 7PM. In lieu of flowers, contributions maybe made in Mel’s memory to the Humane League of Lancaster County, 2195 Lincoln Highway East, Lancaster, PA 17602, or to the American Cancer Society, 314 Good Drive, Lancaster, PA 17603.
