Melvin E. Griffin, 84
Melvin E. Griffin, 84 of Lancaster, entered into rest by our Heavenly Father on Friday, October 5, 2007.
Born in Edenton, NC, he was the son of the late Wheelin and Nora Webb Griffin.
He was formerly employed at Media Heights, Conestoga Country Club,
Lancaster Riding Club, Horse Inn, and the Lancaster Host Resort.
Melvin loved animals, playing golf, and watching football and baseball. He enjoyed hunting and fishing.
A veteran, he served in the US Army 6th Armored Division under General Patton during WWII.
He was of the Baptist faith and a member of the American Legion.
Melvin is survived by a long-time companion, Betty Hersh of Lancaster; son, Melvin Cason Griffin husband of Sylvia of PrinceEdward Island, Canada; daughter, Suzanne Brower of Lancaster; 7 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; brothers, John Webb Griffin husband of Linda, and Ercell Griffin both of North Carolina. He was preceded in death by brothers, Erwin, Joby, and Oscar Griffin; and a sister, Frances Hammet.
A memorial service will be held at the Charles F. Snyder Funeral Home and Chapel Inc., 3110 Lititz Pike, Lititz, Pa on Monday, October 29th at 11am. Friends will be received from 10am until the time of service. Interment will be in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery. Please omit flowers.
