Melissa “Missy” Ann Wenzel, 43

October 26, 1981 - May 14, 2025

With profound sorrow, we announce the passing of Melissa “Missy” Ann Wenzel, cherished daughter, devoted friend, and compassionate soul, who left this world on May 14, 2025, at the age of 43. Born on October 26, 1981, in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, Missy spent her life in the loving community of Millersville, where she touched the lives of all who had the privilege of knowing her.

Missy was a loving and devoted member of Manor Church, where her faith shone brightly in all she did. She participated in various ministries, profoundly impacting the lives of those around her through her warmth and unyielding dedication to helping others. Over the course of her life, her uplifting spirit radiated from her involvement in programs like Joni and Friends, and her previous role as an Easter Seals Ambassador showcased her commitment to serving the community from a young age. For over 18 years, she volunteered at St. Anne’s Retirement Community, where she became a beloved Activities Assistant, showering the residents with love and joy.

A proud member of the Penn Manor class of 2000, Missy possessed a heart of gold and a smile that illuminated even the darkest days. Her exuberance for life was matched only by her ability to connect with children, as she found immense joy in singing and nurturing the younger generations. She mentored youth classes at Manor Church, sharing her immeasurable gifts of hope, love, and peace with countless children, including her nieces, and nephews whom she checked on daily.

Missy’s legacy is one of love and compassion, as she regularly ministered to and comforted her caregivers, showing strength and grace even in her most challenging moments. Her family extends heartfelt gratitude to those at Margaret E. Moul Home in Shiloh, who provided care during her final weeks, demonstrating the same love and care that Missy shared throughout her life.
Her spirit and memory will live on in all who knew and loved her including her parents, John and Linda (Neff) Wenzel of Millersville, her brothers, Josh Wenzel, husband of Brooke and Mike Wenzel, husband of Leah, all of Lancaster, her nieces and nephews, Lincoln, Jaxon, Maximus, Elle, Otto, and Hannah, as well as loving aunts, uncles, and cousins.

A Memorial Service to honor Missy’s remarkable life will take place at Manor Church, 530 Central Manor Rd., Lancaster, PA 17603, on May 31, 2025, at 11:00 am, with visitation starting at 9:00 am. She will be laid to rest at Masonville Cemetery. Memorial contributions are encouraged to be made to Margaret E. Moul Home, or Joni and Friends of Eastern PA, 340 Highland Dr. Ste.200, Mountville, PA 17554.

In remembrance of Missy, we encourage everyone to cherish one another and continue her legacy of love and compassion through acts of kindness. Her memory will live on in our hearts and in the lives of everyone she touched.

I met Missy when I did Joni and friends years ago. What a joy she was. She blessed me so much that week I spent with her. I was with her when she first met Bob too. We had like a special dinner and I remember her telling me I could go now that Bob will help her if she needs it at dinner time. Lol. She made me laugh and smile. I’m sorry for your loss.  Claudia Bosley

Mr. & Mrs. Wenzel –
I am so very sad to hear of Missy’s passing.  I know she will no longer have pain or suffering.  Her smile will shine even brighter.  While we attended Manor Church, she always checked to see how are boys were doing.  She helped in the student miinistries with out younger ones.
She was always a regular sunshine on Sundays when I worked in the coffee cafe, with her standard order of coffee but per Greg, it was always cut from full octaine to 1/2 & 1/2.
I pray you find comfort in those close to you and all the stories you’ll hear about Missy…the ones you never knew.
Blessings,
Lorrie McKenna
