The family of Mary Ellen Weaver wish to announce her passing on August 5, 2025. She was 87. Born in Washington Boro, she was the daughter of Christian and Elsie Habecker. Mary Ellen was the loving wife of R. Kenneth Weaver for over 53 years until his passing in 2012.

Mary Ellen was a vibrant soul known for her joyful demeanor and beautiful spirit. Her creative talents shone through in her love for sewing, crafting, and gardening. She found immense joy in making clothing for her daughter and spent countless hours tending to her beloved garden. Whether she was traveling with Ken to the stunning Colorado Rockies or exploring the charms of Europe, Mary Ellen embraced every adventure.

A devoted volunteer with Meals on Wheels and attending Sunday School weekly at Central Manor Church, Mary Ellen’s compassion extended beyond her family to the wider community, where she made a lasting impact. She cherished the time spent reminiscing about her childhood farm days with her sisters, and her love for cooking filled her home with warmth and delicious aromas.

She will be sorely missed by her children, Jeff Weaver, husband of Kathy of San Francisco, CA, and Jill Hampton, wife of Bert of Lancaster, grandchildren, Sam, Kierstin and Keith, and her sisters, Esther Nolt and Edna Shenk. She was preceded in passing by her husband Ken, her parents and sisters, Miriam, Anna, Martha, and Florence.

A Funeral Service honoring Mary Ellen will be held at Central Manor Church, 387 Penn St. Washington Boro, PA 17582, on Friday, August 15, 2025, beginning at 11 AM. The family will greet guests from 9:30 – 11 AM. Memorial contributions may be made in her honor to Hospice & Community Care.
