Marvin “Marv” E. Trim, 97

Marvin (Marv) E. Trim, 97, of Lancaster passed away on 10/15. He was the widower of Elizabeth (Betty) Trim. They were married 64 years. Born in Pontiac, MI, he was the son of the late Robert E. and B. Gladys (Hill) Trim.
Marv graduated from Pontiac Senior High School in 1946. He served two hitches in the Navy during the years between 1946 and 1952. Marv graduated from the University of Michigan in 1954 with a BS in Electrical Engineering. He received his Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering in 1957 from Newark College of Engineering, Newark, NJ. Marv married Betty Klug in 1958 at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Harrison, NJ. He was a resident of Lancaster since 1962.
Marv worked at RCA for 28.5 years, retiring in 1988. He published the technical data on picture tubes and microwave devices. He was the chairman of the Electronic Industries Association (EIA) JT-6 Committee on Color CRTs from 1983 to 1987. During that period, he was instrumental in developing a world-wide type designation system for color picture tubes and received the EIA Distinguished Contribution Award in 1987.
An active member of Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church since coming to Lancaster in 1962, he was a tenor in the choir for 46 years. Also, he was the Treasurer for 20 years, an Elder for ten years, and Financial Secretary for six years. He served in many other capacities as well. In 2023 he became a member of the Westminster Presbyterian Church.
Marv is survived by a daughter, Beverley Hinkle, wife of Michael Hinkle, and a son, Larry Trim, husband of Amy Trim. Both of his children live in the Lancaster area. Marv is also survived by one brother, Charles E., husband of Thelma Trim. A brother, Gil Trim predeceased him.
A memorial service will be held November 8, 2025 with visitation at 2PM and service at 3PM at Westminster Presbyterian Church, 2151 Oregon Pike, Lancaster, PA 17601. Please omit flowers; however, donations in his memory may be made to Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church, 308 Petersburg Road, Lititz, PA 17543 or Westminster Presbyterian Church at the above address.
