Martin A. Barr, 62

November 05, 2023

Martin A. Barr, aged 62, passed away on Sunday, November 5, 2023, at UPMC Williamsport. He was born to the late Jeannie (Shell) and Martin G. Barr.

Martin was a proud graduate of Conestoga Valley High School and was the owner of Barr’s Garage, a family business that he had been part of for over 60 years.

Martin A. Barr was a devoted family man and a skilled mechanic who led a fulfilling life enriched by his passions. As the owner of Barr’s Garage, a family business that spanned over 60 years, Martin was deeply involved in the world of automobiles. His passion for working on cars was more than just a job; it was a lifelong hobby that brought him immense satisfaction and expertise, he especially enjoyed working on his ‘63 convertible Corvette.

Martin was an avid hunter, finding excitement and serenity in the great outdoors. Whether in the woods or the mountains, he relished the beauty of nature and the thrill of the hunt. Another hobby of Martin’s was riding four-wheelers in the mountains. This likely provided him with a sense of adventure and a way to explore the great outdoors while enjoying the rugged terrain. Sprint car races held a special place in Martin’s heart, and he enjoyed the exhilaration of watching the races and being part of the racing community. Martin loved visiting Assateague Island to witness the untamed beauty of the wild horses that inhabit the area. His visits to the island allowed him to connect with the wonders of the natural world. Martin was an active member of the Conestoga Valley Church of Christ, where he found spiritual fulfillment and fellowship with his faith community. Martin had a passion for taking photos of deer that wandered into his yard.

Survived by Ulessia Barr; His boys: Timothy, Jr. (Deidre) of Mt. Joy, Jay (Shelbee) of Sabinsville, and Trevor of Lancaster; Grandchildren: Roman, Monroe, Kayden, and Theodore and his sisters: Marsha Barr of Leola and Constance Archer (CJ) of Louisville, KY.

A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, November 17, 2023, at Bachman Snyder Funeral Home, 7 S. Decatur Street, Strasburg, PA 17579. Family and friends will be received from 10:00 AM until the time of the service. Interment will follow at Longenecker Reformed Church Cemetery.
