Mark Alexander Ellis, 53

March 03, 2015

Mark Alexander Ellis, 53, died suddenly March 3, 2015. He is survived by his mother, Joann (Fleisher) Cooper, wife of Quentin; father, Steward Ellis, husband of Kris; wife, Carol (Adamcek); sons, Jared husband of Sarah; Dylan; and daughter, Kayley. He had one grandchild, Quinn who was the light of his life.

Mark’s family was the most important thing in his life. He loved Christmas when he wrote his annual Christmas letter and hung his Snoopy ornaments on the tree; he loved taking the family to Beijing (restaurant) for Chinese food every Sunday; and enjoyed playing fast-pitch softball in Willow Street, baseball with his sons at Stumpf Field, watching his daughter show horses in 4-H, and experiencing local Friday nights on the town with his wife.

Mark obtained his bachelors (83’) and masters (85’) degrees from Lehigh University, where he met Carol. He worked in engineering and management at GE, RCA, Burle, Phillips, Bosch, and Volvo. He was an avid reader and an eager debater of politics.

Mark was looking forward to riding his tractor around the new farm in Mount Joy, catching fish in his bass pond, and spending time with his grandchildren. It was a life cut short far too soon and he will be missed.

A Celebration of Mark’s life will be held at Charles F Snyder, Jr. Funeral Home & Crematory; 3110 Lititz Pike, Lititz, PA on Saturday March 7 from 12-4PM.

In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations be made in Mark’s memory to The American Heart Association, 610 Community Way; Lancaster, PA 17603.

I apologize as I was out of town the week of Mark’s passing, and only found out today as Jim Lilley informed we not only lost Jay Bucher but Mark.  I will always remember our first game at Stumpf field when Mark showed up with his twenty year old spikes with a fresh coat of white shoe dye on them.  He had uncanny timing with his sense of humor and he is a perfect example of why the Adult League was started, just a chance for men to be kids again.  I wish you all well and I am so sorry for your loss.

Dear Carol and family:
Mark was a high school classmate of mine.  I cannot think of my days in Juniata High School without remembering him:  He was in nearly every class with me.  Anytime I hung out with him I was in the midst of a cicle of laughter fun.  He will be missed.  May the love of friends and family surround you in you time of grief.  In you sweet and blessed memories of your loved one may you find consolation and peace.
