Marjorie R. Johnson, 89
Marjorie R. Johnson, 89, beloved wife of Alvin Gerald “Jerry” Johnson, passed peacefully into God’s eternal care on Wednesday February 15, 2012, at Calvary Fellowship Homes, with her devoted husband at her side.
Marjorie was born July 3, 1922 in Chicago, IL to the late Gordon and Myrtle (Gracey) Richardson. She graduated from Grace Bible College in Milwaukee WI, and in 1954 moved to Washington D.C. where she met her future husband.
Marjorie’s abundant musical talent played a dominant role in her life. She began as a soprano soloist in Lindblom High musicals and Chicago area Youth for Christ. She continued to develop her vocal talent while in college. On the east coast, she was a member of both the Phoenix Choir (Peabody) and Baltimore Symphony Chorus while also active in various church choirs. She sang most recently in the Westminster Presbyterian Church choir and Harvest Presbyterian Church. She also was an avid reader, enjoyed poetry, and spending time with her grandchildren.
Marjorie will be dearly missed by her loving husband Jerry, daughter Priscilla who resides in New Milford, CT, and son Philip and his wife Anne of Towson, MD with their triplet granddaughters Emma, Sarah, & Heather. Marjorie also leaves behind cherished extended family and friends.
A Memorial Service will be held at Harvest Presbyterian Church 517 Beaver Valley Pike, Lancaster PA on Saturday February 25th at 2:00pm. Friends may greet the family following the service.
