Marion E. Brant, 81
April 21, 2020
Marion E. Brant, 81, of Willow Street, passed away on April 21, 2020 at ManorCare Lancaster. Born in Germantown, PA, she was the daughter of William and Ethel (Friday) Guenkel and wife to the late Robert F. Brant.
Marion grew up in Christ’s Home in Warminster, PA, where she made lifelong friendships, found her faith in Christ, and met her late husband Robert. They married in 1958 and spent 35 years together before his passing in 1993. Marion was a dedicated wife and mother. She loved her home and took great pride in caring for her flower garden and her companion cat, Wooder.
Outgoing, friendly, and pleasant, Marion loved to spend time socializing with her friends and neighbors. Marion became well known throughout the Willow Street community as a long-time employee and smiling face of Peoples Drugstore/CVS Pharmacy and K-Mart. She enjoyed writing letters to her distant friends to keep in touch. Vacations often found Marion and Bob traveling to Myrtle Beach, where they enjoyed walking the beach and relaxing in the salt air.
Marion is survived by her daughters, Laurel Brant Kish (Kevin) of St. Petersburg, FL and Nancy Brant (Gajender Bansal) of Falls Church, VA, and nephew Erick Guenkel (Dorothy) of Franklin, NY. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Yuvraj and Chanda Bansal, and long-time companion, Larry Reeves, of Lancaster. She is preceded in death by her beloved husband Robert, and brothers, Albert Guenkel formerly of Germantown, PA and William Guenkel, formerly of White Plains, NY.

My deepest condolences to the family.
It was in 1949 that I first met Marion when my husband and I (as newlyweds) joined the staff at Christ’s Home in Warminster. In the first few months of becoming aquainted with the different positions, we were being considered as houseparents for one of the dorms, possibly for the teenage girls. However, when the girls caught wind of that, they weren’t to happy about having a young woman being their authority figure. I was just 5 or 6 years older then they were. So the board made the decision and we were assigned to the preschool dorm in Paradise where we served for 37 years.
It was there that we first met Bob Brandt who was from Christ’s Home in Warminster. He had moved to the Lancaster area. At that time, Bob knew Dan Klim, a young man from Warminister that was living with us. He would come and visit Dan.
Sometime later, Bob and Marion reconnected and were married in 1958. Throughout the years they visited us when the girls, Nancy and Laurel were young. Due to busy lives and responsibilities, our times together were less frequent. But years later, we reconnected through the Klims. We have many wonderful memories that cover many years.
We are praying for God’s peace and confort for you as your journey through grief and memories.
Sincerely and Lovingly,
Ruth Jerchau

Dear Laurie and Nancy,
I was so sorry to read your mother obituary in today’s newspaper. I just called my mom in Avon Park, Florida to let her know. Your mom and my mom had a sweet friendship for many years. My fondest memory was of your mother picking me up at the intersection of Penn Grant Road and Millwood Road to go to the Willow Street pool. She never wanted me to ride my bike or walk there.
May your sadness soon soften to precious memories of your Mother. There was never a doubt that she loved her family first. In sincere sympathy, Rae Ann Huber Henry
