Marie P. “Patty” Ruffe, 72

Marie P. “Patty” Ruffe, 72, of Cobblestone Lane, Lancaster, PA, passed away on Tuesday, May 2, 2017, with her daughter by her side. She was the wife of the late William R. “Bill” Ruffe who passed away in 2015. Patty and William would have celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on Saturday, May 6th.
Born in Brooklyn, N.Y., She was the daughter of the late Charles and Marie (Dougherty) Martin.
Patty retired from Verizon as a telephone operator. She believed in always helping others, being selfless, and expecting nothing in return. Patty would regularly reach out to different churches to find elderly individuals that needed help and companionship. Her religion was simple kindness. She loved music of all kinds, attending numerous concerts with her daughter, Lori. In addition to music, she loved gardening and sewing.
“If you stood on the street corner long enough on Staten Island, you’d see patty walk by you,” as she was an avid walker, walking a minimum of 8 to 10 miles a day with her Walkman in hand.
“Lori and her mom were the bestest of pals!”
Patty is survived by her loving daughter and bestest pal, Lori Ruffe, Lancaster, PA; two sisters, Anne Bundock, River Vale, NJ, and Alice Martin, Coral Gables, FL.; one godchild, Kathy Maguire, Coral Gables, FL. Patty was preceded in death by a brother, Michael Martin and one sister, Therese Gallion.
Private Graveside Services will be held at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery.
