Marie Downs, 83

Marie Downs entered the presence of her Savior and Lord Jesus Christ on August 1, 2018 at the age of 83. She celebrated 61 years of marriage to her husband Harry. She was a member of Calvary Church of Lancaster, PA along with her husband Rev. Harry. They are members of Ambassadors Bible Class which Harry has taught for 30 years.

Marie was born and grew up in Midland Park, NJ. She played the piano and organ in the churches where her husband ministered in Iowa, New Jersey, Canada, and Michigan, Harry served in preaching, teaching youth ministry and home missions. She taught Sunday School and Vacation Bible School alongside Harry. She also served as a practical nurse in those locations and at Calvary Fellowship Homes where she and Harry lived for over 8 years. They enjoyed vacation travel with their family.

Marie is survived by three sons, Calvin (Melaine) of Littleton, CO, Steve of Boone, NC and Harry, Jr. (Karen) of Lancaster, PA, and seven grandchildren, Emily (Calvin), Elijah, Gideon, Haven and Moses (Steve), Becky and Jessica (Harry, Jr.).

Marie is survived by her sister Jessie Keyser of Lancaster, PA and one brother John Hamersma. She was preceded in death by two sisters, Cornelia Hamersma and Annamae Hamersma.

A Memorial Service will be held at Calvary Fellowship Homes, 502 Elizabeth Drive, Lancaster, PA 17601, on August 16 at 2:00 P.M. with Chaplain Kevin M. Brown, Sr. officiating.
