Marianne T. Rudy, 61

May 06, 2021

Marianne T. Rudy, 61, of Ephrata, peacefully drifted into the arms of her Lord and Savior on May 6, 2021. Born in Lancaster, she was the daughter of the late Norman G. and Rose T. (Schreder) Strosser. She was the devoted wife of George J. Rudy, her high school sweetheart, with whom she shared more than 39 years of marriage. They were inseparable and did everything together, even going to the mailbox.

Marianne was a 1977 graduate of Lancaster Catholic High School and went on to obtain her LPN. She worked as a nurse until she and George decided to start a family.

Marianne led a vibrant life dedicated to her faith, family, and friends. She was a parishioner and Eucharistic Minister at Our Mother of Perpetual Help in Ephrata and volunteered at the school. She was also a member of the Women’s Giving Circle at Lancaster General Hospital.

Marianne was often described as the sweetest lady who always had a kind word for others and a listening ear. She loved hosting family and friends in her home, particularly near the holidays. Marianne embodied what it meant to be a proud mom and was the biggest cheerleader for her sons in all of their pursuits. In recent years, she also enjoyed becoming a grandmother, fly fishing, and traveling with her husband, especially to Montana and Alaska.

Marianne’s love will live on in her husband George, sons and their wives: James and Kara of Brooklyn, NY, David and Lauren of Pittsburgh, PA, and Joseph and Kelsey of Overland Park, KS, her beloved granddaughter Hannah, and brothers: Norman Strosser, Jr. of Millersville and Joseph Strosser of Ephrata, as well as countless friends. She was preceded in passing by her son Michael, grandson Nathan, and her sister Rose Marie (Strosser) Lucks.

On Thursday, May 13th at the Charles F. Snyder Jr. Funeral Home & Crematory, 3110 Lititz Pike, Lititz, PA 17543, friends and family are invited to attend a viewing from 5pm to 7pm.

On Friday, May 14th, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 440 St. Joseph St., Lancaster, PA 17603, a Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11am with Fr. Jim Szobonya, C.Ss.R., as celebrant. Interment will follow at the St. Joseph New Catholic Cemetery, Charles Rd., Bausman, PA.

To honor Marianne’s wishes, guests at all events must wear a mask and respect social distancing guidelines.

In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Cherish-Love-Honor Capital Campaign at Lancaster Catholic High School in memory of Marianne.

Dear George and Strosser Familia,
Marianne was one of those joyful, ebullient spirits who filled my high school days with unfailing kindness and cheer whenever and where ever we would meet.  We had Latin class together, and I remember seeing her many years later and we talked about our high school days.  We both started reciting the Hail Mary in latin and were so happy we could remember it!  She is a special soul indeed.
This is prayed her memory:
Ave Maria, Gratia plena, Dominus tecum. Benedicta tu in mulieribus, et benedictus, fructus ventri tui, Jesus.  Sancta Maria, Mater Dei, Ora pro nobis peccatoribus, nunc et in ora mortis nostrae, Amen.
Blessings to your family

I was blessed to have Marianne as very dear friend, and the loss is tremendous. She was the kind of generous person that the world needs more of, her vibrant presence remains. Truly, an angel that walked amongst us, and that leaves us feeling empty inside. She created a beautiful family with George, and they have much to be proud of in their sons.
Thank you Marianne for all the warm and beautiful memories, there are no words I have to say how much you will be missed. All my love and prayers!

Are you the George Rudy who knew my husband Glenn, and participated in archery with my husband and Clayton Shenk.  If so you have my deepest sympathy.  I lost track of you, which was unfortunate.  I also knew your parents, and still have a seed which your Father carved into a monkey.  Visited them in Bausman.  I also lost my husband almost 2 years ago.  We also had a blessed marriage of 58 years, and I still miss him.
if you are I would appreciate  lletting me know. I did not know your wife, she sounds like a wonderful soulmate, and we were both lucky in life to have had many years with them.

Dear George Rudy family,  We are so sad to hear of Marianne’s passing. Though we did not get to meet her we loved her. Kara said so much good about her and how great we would get along. I so wish we could have had that wedding last October. We did get to talk to her a couple times through video and tell her how much we love James. May you find peace and comfort from the spirit of God. We are keeping you in our prayers.
Love, Kevin and Karen Kartchner

George, James, David and Joe: Be assured of my prayers for you as you mourn the loss of your dear beloved wife and mother. Marianne was a “living saint” and she blessed my life in many ways as I spent my 11 years at OMPH Parish. I have numerous great memories- Marianne’s chats with me in the sacristy, our visits to Notre Dame, visits and meals to your home and our days at OMPH and Lancaster Catholic. Unfortunately I will not be able to come in for the funeral but I will celebrate Mass for her and for you! May Marianne Rest in Peace in the Hands of Our God and Blessed Mother Mary. My love & prayers, Fr. John, Lima, Ohio.
