Margaret Jane “Peg” Coleman, 94
May 02, 1931 - December 03, 2025
Margaret Jane ‘Peg’ Coleman went home to the Lord on December 3rd, 2025, in Mount Joy Lancaster County. She was born on May 2nd, 1931, in Philadelphia. A humble person, she excelled where it mattered. As wife, daughter, sister, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and friend. She will be greatly missed for her simple warmth and affection.
Peg was the daughter of Louis and Marian Rieck and sister to Louis and David Rieck. Peg grew up in Philadelphia, graduating from Frankford High School in 1950. She and Edward Coleman of Philadelphia were married in May 1956. A family of fun soon followed.
Peg was the devoted mother to five children: Cathy, Donna, Glenn, David, and Tracy. She also deeply loved her grandchildren, Brian, Lauren, Lindsay, B.J., Matthew, Aidan, Sean, Sam, and Lucy. And certainly not forgotten, her great grandchildren: Mckenna, Benny, Logan, Lincoln, and Ledger.
Peg loved having family around. While they grew Peg and Ed were a constant presence at numerous activities: Girl Scouts, Boy Scouts, sports, chorus, marching band, and anything else that came up. The house in Horsham was open for family and friends alike. It was one of many waystations for the kids of the neighborhood. As the children married, Peg welcomed each new spouse with open arms. She had a quiet tenacity that was sometimes hard to notice but was evident to all who were close. Peg’s sewing and cooking was excellent. Her lasagna was especially fine when the cardboard was removed.
Peg is predeceased by her parents, Louis and Marian, brothers, David and Louis, and son-in-law, Robert. She is survived by her husband of almost 70 years, Edward, and daughters Cathy of Elizabethtown (James her husband, children Brian and Lauren), Donna of Willow Grove (Lindsay her daughter), Tracy of Lititz (Joel her husband, children Aidan and Sean); sons Glenn (wife Sue, children B.J. and Matthew), and David of Norwich, CT (wife Sherry, children Sam and Lucy).
A Celebration of Life will be held at Trinity Lutheran Church, 527 Washington St, Reading, PA on Saturday January 10th, 2026, at noon. Peg loved pink. Please wear something pink if you have it. A reception will follow.
Contributions in lieu of flowers may be made to Hospice and Community Care of Lancaster or Trinity Lutheran Church of Reading in Peg’s memory.
