Margaret Grosh (Peg) Reidenbaugh, 95

November 12, 2023

Margaret Grosh (Peg) Reidenbaugh, age 95, humbly entered her heavenly home on November 12, 2023, a devoted wife and mother with a servant’s heart. She had been a resident at Moravian Manor Communities in Lititz, PA.

She was the daughter of Edward S. and Beatrice Hacker Grosh, and shared 58 years of marriage with the late Robert R. Reidenbaugh. Her family grew to four children, John D. Reidenbaugh (Janice), Thomas G. Reidenbaugh (Linda), Mary Ann Shelly (Gary), and Robert R. Reidenbaugh II (Kim), seven grandchildren, six step-grandchildren, and 21 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, sister Beatrice Elaine Enck, and granddaughter Sara M. Shelly.

Peg’s life was as described in Philippians, having learned “the secret of being content in any and every situation.” She lived in Lititz most of her life, graduated from Lititz High School, was an early 4th of July Queen of Candles in Lititz Springs Park, and began office work at the Animal Trap Company in Lititz. She later worked periodically as bookkeeper for the family electrical business. She was a long-standing member of the Lititz Moravian Congregation, and also enjoyed attending the Isle La Motte Methodist Church in Vermont.

Peg nurtured her family in every caring way possible. Her loving concern also extended to many involvements that were extremely important to her. As a former polio survivor who benefitted from the March of Dimes herself, she was for many years the Lititz area coordinator of the annual March of Dimes against polio. She supported children worldwide through various organizations, and was an active volunteer at the Lebanon VA Hospital. When she learned of refugees arriving at Fort Indiantown Gap from the Vietnam War, she arranged to sponsor a young Vietnamese family by providing housing, assistance, and employment.

Burial will be at the Lititz Moravian Church cemetery at 1:30 PM on Wednesday, November 22, followed by a memorial service and reception for family and friends at the Church and Fellowship Hall at 2:30PM. Please omit flowers, but consider a donation to ChildFund International (www.childfund.org) or Moravian Open Door for homeless in New York City (www.moravianhouse.org) in her memory.

The family extends their deepest appreciation to the dedicated staffs of Moravian Manor and Hospice and Community Care.

I have such nice memories of your mother from my youth.  She was kindhearted and always hospitable to the Sherrard family visits.  I recognize she was the rock of your family and know she will be deeply missed by all of you.  My deepest sympathy.

I have many wonderful memories of Peg as she lived in her apartment at Moravian Manor.  Some special things I gleaned about her as I spent frequent time with her were her kind spirit and her love for family. She loved the train trips taken with her husband, she loved sitting on the lounge chair on her balcony in the heat, she loved her flowers/plants and digging in the soil, she loved her beloved cat, she loved the beach and going to the Vermont lake property, she loved to tell of fishing, and … her Friday evenings of playing Domino’s was a weekly highlight.   I am grateful I had the privilege of knowing Peg and helping her to enjoy her time at MM and to stay in her apartment as long as possible.  I know that her passing leaves a big hole in the Reidenbaugh family.  Praying for God to carry you on this grief journey.
