Marcia (Hall) Jaquay, 78

Marcia Jaquay, 78, of Ephrata passed away unexpectedly at her home on November 26, 2020. Born in Pensacola, FL she was the daughter of the late Irby H. and Dorothy Louise (Mason) Hall. She was the loving wife of Robert H. Jaquay for 45 years until his passing in 2011.

Marcia will be remembered for her determined spirit. After recovering from Polio at the age of 4, she was determined to live a full and rewarding life. She would graduate with a master’s degree from University of W. Florida and go on to be a psychologist in and around Pensacola, where she would retire early and relocate to Ephrata. In her free time, she enjoyed reading, gardening and was currently working on her memoirs.

She is survived by her son, David Jaquay and his wife Diane, of Ephrata, and her grandchildren, Connor and Alissa “Ali”. She was preceded in passing by her husband Robert and brother, Wayne Hall.

Funeral services will be held at the convenience of the family. Interment will take place at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Marcia’s name may be made to the Water Street Rescue Mission

Condolences to the Family

I was a caretaker for Marcia for a few years while she lived here in Ephrata. As many have said, she persevered and was determined to make the most of every situation and experience. She sought to find joy in everything and was vulnerable with those around her. Even when feeling down, she trusted God and knew he would work everything for good. She was such a gift and inspiration to me and others who knew her! She was so intelligent, a wonderful writer, and lover of music and everything Elvis Presley and country.
Marica, you taught me so much and inspired me. I enjoyed every hour with you, and was blessed to know you. Thanks for being used by God to touch the lives of me and others. I’m happy to know you are running, laughing, and rejoicing in Heaven with the Lover of your soul. I’ll see you someday.

My mother taught her English at Pensacola High School. Or English Literature, my mother taught both. In later years, they became penpals, and Mother would forward them to me. Marcia wrote the best, most interesting, vivid notes to my mother, often about her vacations or things she read. I looked forward to them. Every time Mother would always tell me how determined Marcia was back in high school. My warmest thoughts to you all on her loss.

Dearest Marcia —  what a splendid angel without wings here on earth.  Marcia and I became friends during the home care visits I made (to her and Bob) from Ephrata Community Hospital Home Care while I was their RN case manager.  After I retired, Marcia and I would meet (along with Deb’s wonderful care and guidance) for lunch and of course her favorite shopping!  She always wanted to go to a restaurant we had not been to before…always curious about what Lancaster County has to offer.  I will always hold her memory close to my heart, as she was a true beacon of kindness and warmth. You’ve now earned your wings, dear angel!

I am so sorry for your loss. My sisters and I worked for Marcia while we were in college. We all were impressed by her intellect, humor, and organization. She sure loved her little boy!

So sorry to learn of Marcia’s passing, she gave me much inspiration at a time I was lost. As a patient at the rehabilitation institute of west Florida.  Learning to live with and accept my new found disability she inspired me never to give up.  I believe that is how she lived and will be remembered,God bless you and your family in this time of sadness.

My brother and I grew up with Marcia & her brother, Wayne Hall. She was always so positive and pleasant during the times she was in an iron lung. She was a beautiful, determined lady from a beautiful Christian family in Pensacola. Rest In Peace, sweet Marcia. ✝️🙏🏻✝️

Marcia will be greatly missed by her entire family. Aunt to me and Great-Aunt to her two great-nieces and one great-nephew. She was a loving and supportive part of our family that just won’t be the same without her.

Our family knew Marcia as we lived in the same development.  Our sons Devon and Danny would cut her lawn as well as shovel her walkway and driveway on occasional snowstorms. She will always be remembered by our family for her determination and wonderful personality.  The boys would often come home with stories Marcia would share in conversation with them. Our deepest condolences to your family.
