Manuel Lugo, 70

May 13, 2024

Manuel Lugo, 70, of Lancaster, peacefully passed into the arms of the Lord on Monday, May 13th, 2024, at his home with his loving family by his side. Born in Mayagüez, Puerto Rico, he was the beloved son of the late Ramón Lugo and Monserrate Irizarry. Manuel was the loving husband to Freddyswinda “Windy” Torres Lugo, and together they shared 42 years of love. His homemade breakfasts and inviting cups of coffee brought family, friends and strangers together, fostering a sense of community and security for those needing it most.

Manuel’s impact on his family and community is immeasurable. His faith and love for the Lord never wavered through trials and tribulations. He used his own life testimony, daily, to encourage and help those needing guidance in the darkest of times. His ministry, “Jesus is the Answer” allowed him to make a difference near and far for over four decades. He always put others before himself, and loved sharing stories about his missionary trips, prison ministry, outreach work and more. Manuel would often reference John 3:16 and John 8:31-32, as these verses encapsulated his own miracle—the miracle that it is to be loved and freed by Jesus Christ.

Manuel’s warm and welcoming smile made everyone feel at ease in his presence, and his sense of humor brought joy to many. He was a creative and skilled handyman, always eager and ready to lend a helping hand. Manuel was deeply loved and will be greatly missed.

His legacy lives on through his wife Windy and his beloved children; Manuel (Macho) Lugo, Bethmarie Lugo-Carr wife of Ryan, Emmanuel Lugo, four grandchildren, one great granddaughter, three brothers and three sisters. Preceding him in death was a brother and a sister.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend Manuel’s Celebration of Life at Iglesia Puerta De Refugio, located at 220 West King Street, Lancaster, PA 17603. This celebration will take place on Monday, May 20th, 2024 at 7:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Hope Ministries and Community Services, also addressed at 220 West King Street, Lancaster, PA 17603.
