Lucy B. Martell Cartledge, 78

Lucy B. Martell Cartledge, 78, of Lancaster, formerly of Gap, passed away at Lancaster General Hospital, Wednesday, August 30, 2017. Born in Lancaster, she was the daughter of the late Dominick and Jennie (Madonna) Martell. Lucy was the loving wife of the late Donald C. Cartledge, to whom she had been married 53 years, when he died in 2015.
Lucy was a 1956 graduate of Lancaster Catholic High School and worked as a secretary for many years. Of the Catholic Faith, Lucy belonged to Historic St. Mary’s Catholic Church. She enjoyed solving crossword puzzles, was a talented seamstress, played the piano, and loved preparing delicious meals for her family.
Lucy is survived by her daughter, Donna M. Cartledge, of Lancaster; her sister, Anne M. Martell, of Lancaster; and her brother, Victor Martell, also of Lancaster. She was preceded in death by her brother, George Martell and sister, Theresa Stammer.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10AM, Friday, September 8, 2017, at Historic St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 119 S. Prince St., Lancaster, PA 17603, with the Rev. Leo M. Goodman, as Celebrant. Family and friends will be received at the church for a viewing from 9 to 10AM. Interment will follow at St. Anthony’s Catholic Cemetery, Lancaster. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions in Lucy’s memory be made to: “The Legacy Project,” the building improvement fund of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, at the address above, or to the Bellevue Presbyterian Church, 810 Newport Avenue, Gap, PA, 17527.
