Lucille Lacy
Lucille Getz Lacy, born in Mahanoy City, Pa., died at Willow Valley on Dec.31, 2006. Lucille, also known as Aunt Lou and Lucy to family and friends, was a 26-year widow to Jerome F. Lacy, Sr. She spent her adult years in New York City saying “I got my education from the New York Times.” During the war, she spent Saturday mornings as a USO hostess organizing orchestra and restaurant entertainment for the soldiers on leave. She met her husband while working at Continental Can and together they moved to Long Island where Jones Beach became a haven for family gathering and relaxation. She loved to sew, golf, bowl, cook and entertain. She also loved to travel with Williamsburg, Virginia and Florida as favorite destinations. She lived at Willow Valley Lakes Manor for over 19 years, participating in many senior activities and was best known as a volunteer at the Blind Bid Sales.
In addition to her husband, Lucille is predeceased by her brothers, Joseph E. Getcy and John (Jack) Getcy as well as sisters, Mary Getcy and Helen V. Straka. She is survived by her son Jerome, his wife Paula, and grandson Andrew Joseph Lacy all of Maryland. She is also survived by her twin Rose Durand of Willow Street, and three other sisters, Margaret J. Gabuzda of Springfield, VA.; Kathryn D. Thompson of Willow Street, and Cecilia A. Leonidas of Havertown, PA.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the Mass of Christian Burial at St. Philip The Apostle Church, 2111 Millersville Pike, Lancaster, PA. 17603 on Thursday, January 4th at 11:00 am with Rev. Brian P. Conrad as Celebrant. There will be a viewing at the Church from 10:00-11:00 am. Interment in St. Charles Cemetery on Long Island.
