Louis T. Matroni, Jr., 63

Louis T. Matroni, Jr., 63, of Lancaster, PA, passed away unexpectedly on January 13, 2016 at his second home in Holly Springs, NC. Born in Lancaster, he was the son of Mary (Suter) Matroni of Lancaster, PA and the late Louis T. Matroni, Sr. Louis was the loving husband of 44 years to Susan (Marouchoc) Matroni.

He was a 1970 graduate of J.P. McCaskey High School. He retired in January 2011 after 38 years of service with Armstrong World Industries. Louis was an avid sports enthusiast. He loved golf & bowling. In his younger years, he played softball & baseball. He also played with the York Barbell Softball Team. He liked watching sprint car races & NASCAR. Louis enjoyed watching the Carolina Hurricanes Hockey Games with his son & grandchildren.

Surviving in addition to his wife, Susan, & mother, Mary, is a son, L. Thomas Matroni, III, husband of Barbara; 2 grandchildren: Helena Matroni and Louis T. Matroni, IV, all of Holly Springs, NC; brother, Mark Matroni; sister, Barbara Matroni; mother-in-law, Helen Marouchoc; and sister-in-law, Roberta Marouchoc, all of Lancaster, PA.

Louis was preceded in death by a brother, Kevin Matroni.

Friends will be received from 4-6 PM with a Prayer Service beginning at 6 PM on Tuesday, January 19, 2016 at the Charles F. Snyder, Jr. Funeral Home & Crematory, 3110 Lititz Pike, Lititz, PA 17543. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Dominican Sisters of the Perpetual Rosary, 1834 Lititz Pike, Lancaster, PA 17601.

In life, there are two kinds of people. Some come and go in our lives unnoticed. And then there are the very precious few who touch our lives, and we are forever blessed.

So sorry to hear this , my prayers and condolences to the entire family .  I worked with Lou for years , and knew the family .  I enjoyed going trout fishing with him back in the days , and playing basketball .  We also shared an interest in CB radios !  God’s speed my friend , you will me missed .  Rest in piece Lou !

I was so sad to hear of Louis’ passing. I was a friend and baseball teammate of Louis from elementary school on up.  I remember him as a fun, very athletic friend who taught me how to throw a curveball in little league. My sincere condolences to his friends and family. Michael Slaugh

 I played ball with Lou from elementary school to high school and later at Armstrong where we worked together for many years.
 He was a great co-worker and teammate,excellent at everything he did,and we shared many a good time together.
