Lorraine Reed, 91

November 13, 2018

Lorraine Reed, 91, of Columbia, passed away on November 13, 2018 at St. Anne’s Retirement Community. Born in Lancaster, Lorraine was the daughter of the late Walter Keller and Mary (Ream) Keller and the beloved wife of the late Albert V. Reed, Sr.

Once an employee at Armstrong, Lorraine transitioned into the role of a dedicated homemaker, raised six beautiful children, and cultivated a family that she deeply cherished. She loved doing activities and traveling with her family. Before Christmas, Lorraine and her family would spend a day baking cookies and filling the house with laughter while eating tons of Chinese takeout. Lorraine greatly enjoyed when all of the family would get together annually for a reunion picnic over the summer. Lorraine and Albert would go on bus tours and trips together. Albert was also the one responsible for getting Lorraine involved in the Sewing Circle at Stehman Church, where they were members.

In her later years Lorraine worked at Stauffer’s of Kissel Hill grocery stores as a cashier. She also pursued her lifelong passion for art and crafts and became an avid painter using oil paints. She loved painting coastal landscapes with lighthouses and images off of greeting cards. Lorraine was a talented gardener and loved tropical flowers. When the weather wasn’t nice enough to be outside, she could be found inside reading mystery novels or watching mystery programs.

Lorraine is survived by her children; Michael Reed (Carol), Lyndale Kut (Jan), Scott Reed (Sue), Dallyn Bireley (Robert), and Mari Reed, daughter-in-law Catherine A. Reed (late Albert Reed Jr.), 11 grandchildren, and 21 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her brothers Richard, Robert, and James Keller, and sister Shirley Webb. Preceding Lorraine in death were her husband of 53 years, Albert V. Reed Sr., her son Albert V. Reed Jr., and her sister Betty Dimitris.
