Lorraine B. Hausner, 83

Lorraine B. Hausner, 83, of Garden Spot Village, New Holland, passed away on Wednesday, August 18, 2010 at Hospice of Lancaster County, Good Drive. Born in Wilmington, DE, she was the daughter of the late William and Blanche Boyce. Lorraine received an Associate’s Degree from Centenary College in 1946.

On March 19, 1949, Lorraine married Edward L. Hausner, Jr., and shared 47 years of marriage until Ed’s death in 1996. Lorraine lived most of her adult life in Malvern, Chester County, and moved to Denver, Lancaster County in 1990. She became a resident of Garden Spot Village in 2003.

Primarily a homemaker, Lorraine was employed as a trade analyst for the Dupont Company, a customer service representative for Diamond State and Bell Telephone, and a campaign manager for Congressman Dick Shultze. Throughout her life, she enjoyed antiqueing, gardening, Rehoboth Beach, and was skilled in the practice of the domestic arts. Active in the Republican Party, Lorraine served as officer and director of the Upper Main Line and Charlestown Councils of Republican Women. She participated in many local, state and national campaigns, and was the first woman recipient of the Thomas A. Pitt award for “loyalty, dedication and service” to the Chester County Republican Party in 1979. More recently, she assisted in recruiting volunteers at Garden Spot Village for various projects.

Lorraine is survived by her daughter, Christina L. Hausner, wife of Michael T. Zuber, Lancaster, and two sisters-in-law, Bertha M. Hausner, Philadelphia, and Mary Anne Moser, Denver, CO.

A Memorial Service will take place on Tuesday, August 24, 2010, at 4 pm in the Concord Room of Garden Spot Village, with Chaplain Chet Yoder officiating. Friends may greet the family immediately following the memorial service. Private Interment in Philadelphia Memorial Park, Frazer, PA. Please omit flowers.
