Loren R. “Butch” Smith, 78

Loren R. “Butch” Smith, 78, of Lancaster, passed away at Hospice & Community Care, Mount Joy, on Tuesday, May 17, 2022. Born in Shamokin, Butch was the son of the late Loren Emerson and Jeanette (Tietsworth) Smith.

He graduated from Butler Township High School, and then The Williamson Free School of Mechanical Trades with the Class of 1964. Butch served six years in the PA National Guard obtaining the rank of Specialist 4th Class. He worked as a salesman in the building industry selling windows, doors, and moldings.

Butch celebrated 34 years of marriage with his wife Harriet R. (Williams) Smith last February 19th.

He was a member of Lives Change By Christ Church, and Ashland Lodge No. 294 F.&A.M. An outdoorsman, Butch enjoyed playing golf, fishing, and hunting. He dearly loved his kids, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. The family enjoyed riding dirt bikes on the weekends, and Butch would repair the bikes during the week.

In addition to his loving wife Harriet, Butch is survived by daughter, Jeanine, wife of Chuck Sanko of Gordon, son Terry L. Smith of Gordon, and son Rodney L. Smith, husband of Kristine of Ephrata; six grandchildren: Brittny and Cory, Samantha, T.J., Ryan, and Derek, and Matthew; seven great-grandchildren. Butch was preceded in death by his son, Jeffrey L. Smith, and his brother Daniel R. Smith.

Private interment will be in Witness Park, Lititz.
