Lester Parke Brown Sr. “Pap”, 86

May 07, 2023

Lester Parke Brown Sr. “Pap”, 86, of Lancaster PA passed away May 7, 2023. He was born to the late Veryle D. Brown and Edna Hess in Lancaster. Pap worked as a truck driver, hauling milk, tomatoes and dry goods for many years at W.H. Johns Trucking. When his daughter, Cindy was born, he moved on to be a diesel mechanic. He dedicated 45 years to the company and retired with them. Parke had many nieces and nephews, and although he never had any biological grandchildren, he had many step-grandchildren which he treated like his own.

Pap loved fishing, camping, had many boats over the years, and a camp site at CraftHaven. He also enjoyed pro wrestling, NFL and was a NY Jets fan. He loved animals and especially Eagles. Down to earth type of guy and a work-a-holic. Pap didn’t usually initiate a conversation but get him started and he would talk your ear off. He was very fond of his Harley Davidson motorcycle and his dream was to ride to Alaska with a friend, but unfortunately never fulfilled that dream. Pap was always the one to take charge and organize the yearly family reunions. He was well-lived and well loved. He will truly be missed.

Pap is survived by his children, Cindy Brown and Parke Brown; his grandson, Curtis, who he had custody of and kept him feeling young; His surviving sisters Thelma Smith (Clyde), Marie Buch (Bill); and Vicki Jackson-Settle. His stepchildren, Robert Finch, Sally Grigg, Jeffery Finch, Michael Finch, Kara Finch, Scott Finch and Cinda Yursta. Along with his parents, he is preceded in passing by his stepmother, Susan; his half siblings, Frank Brown, Veryle Brown Jr, Glenda Bickel and Kelton Brown.

A gathering of vehicles for the procession will start around 12:30 at Charles F. Snyder Funeral Home, 414 King Street, Lancaster graveside service will be held Monday May 15, 2023, at Conestoga Memorial Park, 95 2nd Lock Rd, Lancaster, PA 17603, at 1PM. In lieu of flowers, donations in Pap’s honor may be made the Lancaster Humane League at 2195 E Lincoln Hwy, Lancaster, PA 17602, or a charity of your choice.
