Leona K. Cauley, 71

May 10, 2019

Leona Kathryn Cauley, 71, of Elizabethtown, passed away with her family by her side at Hospice & Community Care. She grew up in Springfield, Delaware County and was the daughter of the late Al and Kathryn (McDade) Smith and the beloved wife of Dennis Cauley.

Art was Leona’s passion in life. Her talent in art, specializing in watercolor and water media, was matched by her affinity for teaching both adults and children. She was always pleased to exhibit her art in galleries. Leona’s eye for design and color went beyond painting. She was an interior designer and enjoyed creating art in her garden by planting colorful flowers. Though she was passionate about art, the love she had for her family was unmatched. Family drove her life and came before everything. A loving grandmother, she shared her interests in art, sewing and baking with her grandchildren. Her family and friends will always remember her enthusiasm for holiday events, her passion and appreciation of the arts, and the love she gave to them.

In addition to her loving husband of 50 years, Dennis, Leona is survived by her two daughters; Michele Semple (Brian) and Megan Cauley, two grandchildren; Charlotte and Max Semple, and her sister Kathy Welsh (John).

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Thursday, May 23, 2019 at 11:00am at St. Peter’s Catholic Church located at 904 Mill Rd, Elizabethtown, PA 17022. Guests will be received prior to the service starting at 10:00am. Interment will be private and at the convenience of the family. Memorial donations can be made in Leona’s name to St. Jude Children’s Hospital at https://www.stjude.org/donate/.

Condolences to the Family

May 21, 2019

Leona and I were friends for many years and always enjoyed our art together and many other memories that I will always hold dear to my heart.  She was an inspiration to me as well as to her friends and family.  She always had great courage and enthusiasm for life. I will miss her greatly as we all will.  She was like a sister to me.  My thoughts and prayers are with you all.  Much love and blessings.  Ken and Jane Hanck
