Leon W. Bright, 87
Leon W. Bright, 87, of Lancaster, died Wednesday, December 22, 2010 at Hospice of Lancaster County’s Essa Flory Hospice Center after an illness. Born in Bernville, PA, Leon was the son of the late William and Ella (Leiss) Bright. He celebrated 63 years of marriage to Dorothy (Ilg) Bright on Sept. 20, 2010.
An aircraft maintenance supervisor, Leon was employed by Reading Aviation, East Coast Flying Service, retiring in 1988 from Lancaster Aviation after 44 years in the aviation industry.
Leon was a member of St. John Neumann Catholic Church.
He enjoyed making crafts and woodworking, bowling, fishing, bicycling, and gardening, especially growing roses.
In addition to his wife, Leon is survived by his son, Gary D. Bright, husband of Theresa M., of Lancaster, daughters, Cheryl L., wife of J. Kenneth LeFever of Conestoga, and Pamela J., wife of Donald T. Goodley of Brownstown, grandchildren, Eric T. Doman, David M. Goodley, Diana L. Goodley, Ryan M. Bright, and Kateri A. Bright, and great-grandchildren, Kyle, Colby, Eleanor, and Abigail. In addition to his parents, Leon was preceded in death by four sisters.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday, December 27, 2010 at 10 AM at St. John Neumann Catholic Church, 601 E. Delp Rd., Lancaster, PA 17601 with Rev. Michael J. Culkin as Celebrant. A viewing will be held at the church from 8:30 until 9:45 AM. Entombment will be in Gethsemane Cemetery, Laureldale, PA. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Leon’s memory may be made to Hospice of Lancaster Co., P.O. Box 4125, Lancaster, PA 17604. Charles F. I am so sorry to hear that Leon passed. I didn’t find out until this week. I was his neighbor and helped him out when I could. I will miss not seeing him in his back yard fiddling around. Let us know if there is anything we can do. He was a real nice gentleman, even though he was stubborn! We will miss talking to him, glad we got to know him.
