Lawrence B. Love, 79, of Tremont, PA, formerly of Lancaster, passed away at Schuylkill Regional Medical Center, Tuesday, July 12, 2016. Born in Northfork, WV, he was the son of the late John L. and Hettie (Brewer) Love.

Following his honorable discharge, Larry worked as an auto body mechanic for Harold’s Garage, Autohaus VW, and Lancaster County Motors before starting his own business, Love’s Automotive, in 1972. He ran the business until his retirement in 1988.
Larry was a dirt modified race car driver, racing at Reading Fairgrounds, Flemington, Bridgeport, Nazareth, and Penn National. His family remembers spending their weekends at the race track. He loved to talk, had an infectious smile, and was one of a kind.
Larry is survived by his children: Pamela McDonald, wife of Bill, of South Jordan, UT; Suzanne Lapp, wife of Doug, of East Petersburg; Lawrence Travis Love, of Lancaster; and Keith Love, of Leola; his grandchildren: Kyle, husband of Heather; Amy, Jeffrey, Courtney, and Steven; a great-granddaughter, Savannah Wright, and his brother, Richard Love, of Powhatan, VA. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brothers Robert and Albert Love.
The family would like to thank all of his caregivers at Tremont Nursing Home for taking good care of him. Everyone at the nursing home loved Larry and enjoyed his stories. When he walked the halls, every resident knew Larry.
The family will have a special drop-in time for sharing memories from 2-6PM, Saturday, July 23, 2016, at the home of Sue Lapp, 2466 State St., East Petersburg 17520. I only found out of Larry’s passing. Larry was a customer of mine. I was the paperboy for the Lancaster Intell. I was also a dirt racing fan and Larry would talk to this 12-13 year old kid about his racing. I recall his car number being #41. I remember the night I was collecting the paper money and Larry was telling me how he finished ahead of hot shoe Kenny Weld. I still recall his excitement. I’ve always thought what ever happened to Larry Love as I grew up and went to the dirt track races over the years. My sympathies to his family. Doug Bender
