Laurelyn J. Schrom, 65
April 07, 2025
Laurelyn J. Schrom, 65, of Lititz, entered into Heaven’s gates on Monday, April 7th, 2025. She was a God-fearing warrior in every way and fought a hard battle with cancer since her diagnosis in 2021.
Born on Fire Island, New York on August 11th, 1959, to the late Paul and Rosemarie Johnson. She was raised in a military family and lived in many places during her childhood. One of her favorite places growing up, that she loved to tell stories about, was her time living in Bermuda. Laurelyn graduated from nursing school at the age of 18. She worked in the NICU at three different hospitals, taking care of babies while also raising kids of her own. She had many hobbies including sewing, scrapbooking, canning, quilting, and serving in leadership for Operation Christmas Child for many years. She would spend any time she could outdoors hiking and enjoying the beauty of God’s creation. Laurelyn also traveled as much as she could, creating many memories during her travels. She loved spending time with her family and enjoyed the sound of laughter from those around her.
She is survived, and will be missed dearly, by 10 children, Joseph Gura, Matthew (Wendy) Gura, Alexander (Bianca) Schrom, Jordan Schrom, Aaron “Max” (Emma) Schrom, Chandler (Enea) Preci, Courtney (Andrew) Korpan, Hannah (Dylan) Martin, Bethany Schrom, and Tobiah Schrom. She loved & treasured her six grandchildren – Bryan “Garrett”, Aiden, McKenna, Chloe, Anderson, and Gabriella. Laurelyn is also survived by two sisters, Cathylee Weaver and Suzanne Roland. She was loved and will be missed deeply by many.
A celebration of life service will be held at New Life Church 1991 Old Philadelphia Pike Lancaster, PA 17602 at 4pm on Saturday April 12th. A dinner reception will follow the service. In lieu of flowers and cards, the family asks that you consider making a financial donation to Orphans Hands located in Clinton, TN.

I was blessed to have known and worked with your Mom and grandmom. She was a wonderful woman of God who was a shining light to those around her. She was an excellent nurse, proud mother, and strong Christian. She loved her family and you are what she worked so hard for. She looked forward to being at home, helping with homework, and loved the family trips. She drew her strength from her faith and her children. I am sorry for your loss. I count myself blessed to have called her my friend. My prayers are with your family.

My heart goes out to you and yours. I pray you find solace in the small reminders you come across during this difficult time; reminders that this is not the end, that this is not goodbye forever, this just farewell for now. I remember a good friend once told me: “Cancer is a hellish sickness, true. But we are guaranteed life through Christ, and it is not. Because of that, even if we lose the fight with it here, we will continue on forever. The greatest victory remains ours because of the cross: That while our body may die and the cancer with it, we will live renewed and forever.”
