Larry “Tim” Mylin, 78
October 25, 2023
Larry Mylin, known to many as Tim, 78, of Quarryville, passed away unexpectedly at his home, October 25, 2023. Born and raised in Lancaster, he was the son of the late Herbert J. and Hazel (Handel) Mylin.
Being born on a farm in Lancaster County, Tim quickly learned he had a passion for riding, raising, and breeding Arabian horses. This remained a hobby of his into adulthood. He was a natural historian of Western and Native American culture and could quickly provide countless dates and facts on the subjects.
In October of 1965, Tim joined the United States Army to honorably serve his country, until 1967. He recounted many stories of his service time but was most proud of serving with the 101st Airborne. He was a selfless man with a giving heart and always rooted for the underdog. He was a member of the American Legion, Amvets, VFW, and the Slumbering Groundhog Lodge, where he was a member for over 30 years.
In 1971, Tim partnered with Mr. Snyder and together they started Snyder Mylin Excavating. They ran the business together successfully for over 28 years. In 1999, Mr. Snyder sold his half of the business to Tim’s sons, which allowed them to work side by side with their dad until his retirement in 2021. The business would not be where it is today had it not been for Tim’s work ethic and dedication to customer service.
In his free time, he was frequently found on his motorcycle. Spending countless hours on the open road is where Tim found peace. He rode through all 50 states and loved to share stories of his travels.
His most prized memories were created with his family. He cherished all the times he was able to share with them. Tim will be missed by many, especially his sons, Matthew Mylin, husband of Christina of Quarryville, and Ethan Mylin, husband of Andrea of New Providence; 4 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren, 3 sisters and 4 brothers; as well as his loving companion, Alice Peterson of Lancaster. He was preceded in passing by 3 brothers and his wife, Linda Jo Mylin.
The family will receive guests at the Charles F. Snyder III Funeral Home & Crematory, 2421 Willow Street Pike, Willow Street, PA 17584, on Wednesday, November 8, 2023, from 6-7 PM, with a memorial service honoring Tim beginning at 7 PM. Memorial contributions are encouraged to be sent to Frogtown Foundation, P.O. Box 2, Pequea, PA 17565.

Matthew, Ethan and Families,
Though I didn’t know Dad very well, I do know that my cousins, Roxanne and Ron, along with their folks, my Aunt Freda and Uncke Buzz (May they, too, rest in peace), adored him.
in his honor I’m making a contribution to The Frogtown Foundation.
My sincerest condolences. May Dad rest in peace and his memory be a blessing.

Dear Ethan and Matthew –
In 1999 I took my first cycle trip with your Dad, traveling to Four Corners, Arizona. On that trip we travelled 5000 miles, saw America and formed a friendship that will last forever. We enjoyed that ride together SO MUCH that we decided to do it 7 more times.
Your Dad’s sense of humor and nice guy quality made every trip enjoyable. Your Dad was the King of the One Liners. It didn’t matter whether we were consuming Canadian cookies in Nova Scotia, traveling west to Durango or south to Muscle Shoals – on our trips together – as a proud member of the Four Stupids – I made memories with your Dad that I will always cherish.
Linda and I send our sincere condolences to you and your families. Know that we are thinking of you at this time. Vic Blank, Jr.

Tim Mylin will be greatly missed. I’ll always remember him as a brutally honest man, who loved his family, Harleys, vintage cars and of course cigars. Tim had a voice like no other, if he was talking in a crowd of people talking. You would know right where Tim was by the sound of his voice. Matt, Ethan and the rest of the Mylin family, my prayers are with you! Do not mourn, but celebrate the life of a great man!

Matt Ethan and families. And the rest of the Mylin’s Sorry to hear of Tim’s passing. Every time I would see him he had a big smile on his face. The night he won the fastest truck at the Buck. He had the biggest grin and the biggest cowboy hat on sitting in that robin egg blue truck. I would say something about that when I would see him later on. I would get the same big smile. He will be missed. You are all in our thoughts and prayers. Bob Ross Jr and family
