Kontilia Vulopas, 64

Kontilia Vulopas, whose sweet soul and generous spirit comforted many, died Sunday at Moravian Manor in Lititz. She was 95.

Born in Kos, Greece, Mrs. Vulopas was the daughter of the Rev. Harry and Christina Kiaris. She was the wife of the late Savas Vulopas, with whom she arrived in America in 1930. In addition to being a homemaker, Mrs. Vulopas worked with her husband at Superior Cleaners, Ephrata, and the Manhattan Peanut Stand,  Lancaster.

An active member of the Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church, Mrs. Vulopas enjoyed reading the Bible and visiting shut-ins. Throughout her life, she was committed to helping those less fortunate, volunteering with Meals on Wheels, with the Lancaster Clothing Bank, and with various church and service organizations. For many years, she was involved with the Greek Food Bazaar. In addition, she was a longtime member of the Philoptochos Society (Friends of the poor).

Mrs. Vulopas is survived by three sons, Paul, husband of Gloria Vulopas, New Jersey; the Rev. Dr. Harry, husband of Tula Vulopas, Massachusetts; and Anthony, husband of Elizabeth Vulopas, Lancaster; a daughter, Christine Vulopas Speros, Lancaster; 12 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one sister and five brothers.

The record of her life was that of unselfish generosity. Mrs. Vulopas’ sterling qualities of character will leave an indelible impression on all who knew her.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the funeral service from the Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church, 64 Hershey Ave., Lancaster, PA on Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. Interment in Conestoga Memorial Park. Friends may attend the viewing at the Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church on Tuesday from 7 to 9 p.m. The Trisagion will be held at 8 p.m.
