I knew Keith in veterinary school since he was in the class ahead of me. We bumped into each other at the occasional veterinary meeting since then, and had just talked late last year when he started having a decline in health and stopped practicing. Coming from a Mennonite farm background myself, I felt an immediate connection to Keith. He just seemed like such a kind, gentle soul that loved his family and clients. A few farm clients of Keith’s that I’ve been to, since our practice areas partially overlapped, had very high regard for him. He was truly a caring and skilled professional.  I feel deep sadness for his family and prayers go out to them during this difficult time.

Dear Katrina, Tyree, Moses, and Imani, Diana, Judy, mother Alma and others of the family,
My thoughts have often been with you all in the past months and I will hold you in my heart and prayers going forward- the Christmas card with family pictures stays on my wall.  For the few months I was a small part of Keith’s journey at your home I sensed I was walking with some of God’s very special ones.  May the journey of releasing bring peace in the end.  You are loved and precious even as you have needed to let go of one that has seemed to be taken in his prime. A bright, loving father/husband/farmer with dreams and persistance now released from physical difficulties- may his legacy live on!        Sharon Brubaker

Just watched Keith’s service.  Thanks so much for sharing with us.  Praying God will hold you in his hands and give you the comfort that only he can.  I remember the first time I met Keith we were at the construction rodeo and he was having so much fun showing Tyree all of the equipment.  Hold onto the memories.  Love Colette Dowhen (triage)

I had the pleasure of scrubbing in the OR with Katrina many years ago at Women and Babies Hospital.I remember her speaking of her wonderful husband and some of their exploits together! I was terribly saddened to read of Keith’s passing. Please accept my condolences and prayers, and I wish you and the children peace and comfort knowing Keith is free.

Keith was always very friendly and professional when I encountered him at local veterinary meetings and when we ran into each other on a dairy farm. I enjoyed his company at dinner meetings where we would discuss family and he would tell me how important it was to raise a family in a farm environment. It was easy to see how important family was to him. Many of the dairy clients that we had in common have remarked to me how they valued the services that Keith provided as a veterinarian. Keith’s attitude and knowledge were an asset to his clients, colleagues, the community and the veterinary profession. I am fortunate to have known Keith and proud to have had him as a colleague. Keith made a difference. My deepest condolence.

Sending our love to you Katrina, Tyree, Moses, and Imani, Sanford and Judy, and all of Keith’s family.  So sorry about these long months of suffering as Keith was leaving us all so slowly.  He treated us with such kindness when we last visited your home, a few years ago.   We loved the pig roast, and the trip with him to visit a farm of one of his clients.  And those goats that kept escaping from his pasture…and the twinkle in his eyes as he talked with us.
