Kathleen B. Sloss, 87

Kathleen B. Sloss, 87, of Lancaster, passed away on Wednesday, September 10, 2014, at Hospice and Community Care of Lancaster, Mt. Joy. Born in Scranton, PA, she was the daughter of the late William C. and Catherine (Gallagher) Boland. She was the wife of the late Carl H.T. Sloss who died in 1991.
After graduating from the former St. Mary Keller School of Nursing, she dedicated her life to nursing for over 40 years as a registered nurse. Most of her career was spent at Mt. Sinai Hospital in Manhattan, NYC.
Kathleen was a faithful parishioner at St. Philip the Apostle Catholic Church in Lancaster and thoroughly enjoyed crafts.
Kathleen is survived by her step-son, John B. Sterling, of Tenafly, NJ; 4 grandchildren: Abigail, Veronica, Derek, and Brad; a sister, Mary Clayre Ortmann, wife of Werner, of Millersville; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by 4 brothers, Donald, Earl, Leo, and William Boland.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11AM on Tuesday, September 16, 2014, at St. Philip the Apostle Catholic Church, 2111 Millersville Pike, Lancaster, PA 17603, with the Rev. Mark Weiss as Celebrant. Family and friends are invited to a viewing one hour prior to Mass. Private interment will take place in Cathedral Cemetery, Scranton.
