Karen A. Scanlon, 48

Karen A. Scanlon, 48, of 1841 Wilderness Rd., Lancaster, passed away on Friday August 8th at the Essa Flory Hospice Center.

Karen was the wife of John W. Scanlon, with whom she would have celebrated 23 years of marriage this coming August 23rd. Born in Philadelphia, she was the daughter of the late Oscar Williams and Phyllis Marham Brady and Charles Brady of Lancaster.

Karen had worked as a legal secretary for Kegel, Kellin, Almy and Grimm of Lancaster for 16 years.

A very active member of Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church, she was the chairperson of the Missions and Outreach Committee, was a soprano in the church choir, and had led 3 mission trips to Mexico. She was a devoted and loving wife and mother.

In addition to her husband, mother and stepfather, Karen is survived by her two sons: John W. and Michael C. both of Lancaster; her two sisters: Susan married to Walter Degirolamo and Kimberly Sloan, both of Lancaster, 5 sisters-in-law, 2 brothers-in law, her father-in-law John and several nieces and nephews.

Friends will be received on Sunday, August 10th from 6-8PM at Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church, 64 Hershey Ave., Lancaster, PA 17603,  and again on Monday from 1030-11AM. The funeral service will be at 11AM with the Rev. Alexander Goussetis officiating. Interment in Conestoga Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Karen’s memory to the Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church, or to the scholarship fund established for John and Michael Scanlon, c/o Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church at the above address.
